Re: The Thought Experiment Thread

I'd say Mexico. Build an island out of plastic bottles, and set sail. Though after I get my hands on some money I would do a scaled up version where everyone speaks my conlang. Donations? Anyone who wants to learn my soon to be lang?

Re: Yucopia Project (Massive, Collaborative, and Recruiting

They just came out of a bloody war. Most of their race has been wiped out. The last remaining people band together, trying to not settle their differences but except them. Most of their culture is gone so they try to maintain it though bringing a more permanent form of recording history, writing. Th...

Geology The surrounding land is Rain Forrest. Redwoods dominate the landscape. The soil is mineral rich with rare pockets of arsenic and lead. Other metals can also be found in the area. Soil acidity is an issue as it harms agriculture. A plethora of herbs flowering plants and trees grow in the are...

Re: Yucopia Project (Massive, Collaborative, and Recruiting

Let's look at riding a big cat as an art form. Only the most skilled and most flexible can ride them. When I said they were stiffened I meant they couldn't bend as much in the middle. How gigantic are they, exactly? They are about twice the size they are normally. I have to work on social structure ...

Re: Yucopia Project (Massive, Collaborative, and Recruiting

Maybe. It depends on what the people north of me want. Though I think it should be changed to mamoth and I have a hairless version with shorter tusks. The sibarian tiger would've migrated from the far north coming to look more like Asian tigers. Jaguars already live here so I will do away with cheet...

I am thinking 14+. It is what that object's age group is. It was a primitive thought that I thought might work. Toys 7-. You know built in age appropriateness.

I am not aiming at you.My area is roughly just over/under the size of India. Now that I know what to expect I have a good Idea of what to do.

Now I don't know what you have said here but a pointer. Helium3 That is an element that is less hash on nuclear reactors. Instead of replacing the reactor every 20 years you only have to replace it every 100. Also Why only suck hydrogen off of gas giants? I would suggest you read http://en.wikipedia...

Re: Yucopia Project (Massive, Collaborative, and Recruiting

Sounds good. You should probably start adding to the wiki. Also, do you have a language? It is barely farther than phonotactics and phonology. Would you get elephants in the steppe/desert? Probably not. I intend on avoiding desert areas. I am want them to be sea faring with mild land exploration. T...

Nowhere near everyone has an elephant. People have large herds and rent them out to farmers. That is my new plan for them.

Re: Yucopia Project (Massive, Collaborative, and Recruiting

First, cats are far too bendy to ride. Humans can ride horses, camels, elephants, etc. because they all have very stiff and inflexible spines. Yeah I know. I thought that gigantism would stiffen them up. Also I am certain humans are flexible enough to ride one. Watch the Olympics oolala. Oh..5000 y...

Dentures-old people
Braises-Young people
Stove-(insert age group)+
and so on.

This is a bit outlandish but still possible (I think). Cultures trace back as far as 5000 years. Domesticated animals and their uses: The Elephant This animal was domesticated 3,000 years ago. The elephant is an animal used by farmers, traders and warriors. Farmers use this beast for cultivating fie...

Re: Effects of higher gravity

If you don't mind I would like to way in. Dinosuars got bigger because carbon dioxide levels rose. The plants grew faster but less nutritous. The beasts grew to hold more food and suck in more air, as levels of co2 rose they grew. The largest of dinos was still growing. Gravity doesn't play that big...
