Re: CCC Land Grab
Can I scoop N5r and O5 for a dragon group named Nolo? I'll hit up the religion thread this weekend probably. now, back to the school Two things: 1. Normally, new cultures start only in one square. 2. Consult this climate map to be sure you really want that square. That area is mostly cool desert an...

I've been lurking around these topics a bit and said nothing due to school, but school's over soon and might jump into this. Am I too late, and where do I sign up?

Re: Gomse
The last post covered the basics of verbs that were monotransitive, so this post will go into depth for other verbal possibilities. I will cover instrumental use of nouns, Ditransitive verbs, "Higher" valency verbs, and passives. Instrumental Instrumental usage of nouns is easy to show. The "xjo" par...

Re: Gomse and a return to ZBB
Thanks for dropping in, vec! Glad you enjoy it. I'm going to hash out verbs in more detail in this post. I will cover negation, tense and aspect marking, modals, and serialization. Verbs within Gomse are sort of an odd mash of Greek and Chinese. The tense and aspect system follows the same distincti...

Okay, time to continue! This post will cover the personal pronouns, possession, the basic copula, "adjectival" modification, how to show location, and simple verb usage. I'm using my romanization scheme from here on out. Personal Pronouns There are 3 personal pronouns that are distinguished only alo...

Re: Gomse and a return to ZBB
A common criticism, but you should keep phonemes (marked with slashes) and phones (marked with brackets) apart better, as there are a number of things you are marking as phonemes which should actually be marked as phones, particularly as you are actually describing allophony whilst using slashes. T...

Gomse and a return to ZBB
Hello everyone It's been a while since I had the chance to drop in because school grew VERY busy. I hope I didn't miss too much. I've had a little time to poke around with conlangs still. With the end of the semester next tuesday, I think I will have much more time to goof off into conlang land, so ...

Re: Kool map game
I've got a base map outlined, but nothing special so far. I've been getting my ducks lined up for school, so my internet life is going to doom. I might try a simply political map of JR, but if someone hijacks the geography, I won't mind at all since I probably won't be here as often as I like. I'm g...

I'm sort of glad I threw the tonality into Gomah now, since I used a loosely polynesian system too with a couple wrenches tossed in for good measure. I really love the allophony on those front vowels and how they interact. The script is lovely too. Definitely feels indonesian. My favorite is the ke ...

I hope I'm not being horribly off-topic here, but: Rireinutire has a rich vocabulary for local delicacies, but only since today is there a word for cheese omelet: tirovehehutu /ˈtiɹoˌveheˌhutu/ tiro-vehe-hutu cheese-egg-pancake If your vehehutu is filled specifically with mane , or soft cheese, tha...

Re: Narrow vs Thin
I love the analysis based on dimensions, and I hope to add. Once something is cubical rather than plank-shaped, it gets quirkier. A filing cabinet or a truck can be "narrow" but an animal is "thin". Part of me for these examples wants to just write it off as a collocation deeply entrenched in Englis...

Atrocities? Don't be such a prescriptivist. Borrowings are gonna happen! Those examples are atrocities; and unnecessary ones, by the way, product of ignorance and/or inference mainly.
