Re: How to make a language with a profound foreign influence
Words related to concepts that are foreign to the native speakers are most likely to be borrowed, then words related to more complex ideas like academic and legal terms; on the contrary, grammatical affixes, functional words and words related to everyday life(like those listed on the Swadesh list or...

When I was first designing Vezurian, I was a big fan of Guild Wars: Nightfall. The word vanac 'zealous, pious' references an early antagonist who was a fanatical warlady.

Re: Conlang relay [relocated] (aka "The Cursed Relay")
Is there a wordlist of Proto-Habeo floating around? All I see on the wiki is the Proto-Xoronic lexicon. I realized that the Anheshnalaks, over the course of their eastward migrations, could intersect and even live alongside speakers of Habeo languages. From them the Anheshnalaks would learn stories ...

@Chagen: "Texan here...hm, I don't think the distinction exists here. I could definitely say "you might've broken that" to mean "it's possible that you have now broken it", while "you may have broken that" would usually mean...actually, the same thing, honestly" "You might've broken it" sounds more ...

The stop series reminds me of Tengwar but the rest of the characters carry a unique feel to them and do not remind me of it.

Re: Conlang relay [relocated] (aka "The Cursed Relay")
For all interested parties, I have uploaded two lexicon lists for Wippwo to Google Drive. The first is a list of native words based on the original wordlist that Zompist began to create many moons ago. The second is a list of recent loan words that have entered the language. NB, both are living docu...

I got confused on the "rotten teeth", reading "rotten" as a verb than as an adjective.

Re: Conlang relay [relocated] (aka "The Cursed Relay")
Hi dendana, your language is spoken to the northwest and is a contemporary of Wippwo , a daughter of Naidda that I've created! According to Zompist's rough notes (he was in charge of Wippwo before I took it over from him), a trading republic a la Venice developed in the Kasca delta that spoke Wippwo...

Re: Akana Conlang Relay 2011 (The Never Ending Relay)
Thanks for the insightful post, Corumayas. An in-between language lines up with what I was planning. The loan words wouldn't be many; I'm thinking they would be for foods and goods new to the Anheshnalaks as a result of their migration to the south. I'm also thinking of a biography for an Ibn-Battut...

For a neo-Akkadian lang that I was working on, the script is the Arabic alphabet. Since it is spoken in modern-Iraq.
