Better idea wierd. We choose a spot on the greyscale, and then have the climates caculated afterwards, leaving us with something random.

If we are going to use this map, I'd like to have this part:

Well, it doesn't have to be the whole island . I'm fine with any part of it, really.

I was thinking of having that island myself, but I thought it was too close to the equator. I don't want anything tropical.

Re: Anyone want to Start on a Mass Project?
Shall we calculate the climates in a little while, so people still have time?
Re: Anyone want to Start on a Mass Project?
Well seeing as it's going to be earth-like, it's not going to be much different from Earth -such as the equator, artic and antarctic regions and tropical areas basically.

Yea, but where will what types of forests grow and where will be arid? What places will have what kind of winters, etc. The southern united states is about the same longitude as the Mediterranean, yet their climates are so different.

Re: Anyone want to Start on a Mass Project?
I've started calculating the climates (well, the general winds and pressure, so far), though I'm not quite done. I can delay finishing/showing it for a little while, if that's what you mean.

No, go on and continue. I didn't know if you started.

Re: Anyone want to Start on a Mass Project?
One request though, can we get this done before night if possible? That way we can work out what we should get done first, and be able to work on it during the week.
Re: Anyone want to Start on a Mass Project?
I think what we should do is label our regions and maybe name them in IPA or XSAMPA we can work out racial differences from there.

Re: Anyone want to Start on a Mass Project?
Should we really name them before having a language ready ? We could just use our usernames or something in the meantime.
Re: Anyone want to Start on a Mass Project?
Well, not truly "name" them but just use some phonetics to how we would like the name to sound and the orthography we come up with can work with it to form the names.*Ceresz wrote:Should we really name them before having a language ready ? But it's true, we should start with a few languages and regionate them.

I guess we could always change the names later if it doesn't add upp .Absolem wrote:Well, not truly "name" them but just use some phonetics to how we would like the name to sound and the orthography we come up with can work with it to form the names.*Ceresz wrote:Should we really name them before having a language ready ? Anyway, I think we should collect ideas on the type of 'lang we are going to make for our region.
I might try an Eskimo/Aleut-looking language.

Re: Anyone want to Start on a Mass Project?
I was thinking of trying out something polysynthetic, maybe in the vain of uto-aztecan.
I'm not really sure yet. I just want to make something really verb heavy.
