Expressing dates in Verdurian

Post by Neek »

Looking through the reference section of the Verdurian grammar, I've realized... how do you normally expresse dates? On my LJ, I hazarded the Oikumenized the dates as best as I can,
* Lördan, soán desneván augüstë (Saturday-dat, the 19-dat august-gen).
Though I don't think this format is at all best. If the entire phrase is meant to be in the dative, or am I doing the entire construction wrong?

If you're dating a journal entry, use the nominative. (You can consider that there's an understood E "It's...")

Lörda 19 augüsti Z.I. 2006. Eludëno lelnai <Sidhdhî im letnirun>.

(Cf. the Lord of News.)

You'd use the dative if you're using the expression in a sentence. But as in English, it'd be odd to use a full date that way.

Lördan lelnai <Sidhdhî im letnirun>.
19án augüstin lelnai <Sidhdhî im letnirun>.
