Questions or discussions about Almea or Verduria-- also the Incatena. Also good for postings in Almean languages.

Kids love to pretend they're younger!
Now that is just scary.......Just like adults do.......At least I'm telling the truth about my age. Guess that makes me the youngest on here to be truthful about there age or is there some one else?

P.S Ignore my Youtube profile I only switched my age on there to 18 to view videos stupid ignorant people flagged as "inappropriate". You won't believe what they flag. They flag things that aren't even inappropriate!

Make sure it also does this with option and control, and with combinations of those.

The diacritics need to me made zero-width characters that will hang over the previous letter. Since the original font is designed so that everything can be typed in orthography and then the font changed, it uses precombined diacritics instead. It may also have non-spacing ones, I don't know.

Good call; I'll do that.

The original font must have contained precombined diacritics, but I can't find them in the code table for the Unicode version.

No I'm not. If any one is gullible it would be you for believing that I'm gullible when I'm not. You don't know me so you can't say what I am and what I'm not.

You apparently have trouble detecting sarcasm. That = gullible. I doubt people will be taking directions from you as to what they can and can't say, either.

Also, when people post shocked/horrified responses to your:

51 OMGs
13 Mr. Greens
4 YAY!s
5 PRETTY SCRIPTY!s
6 BOINGY!s
7 THANK YOUs
Various other gibberish

...they're not saying they think it's cute. Replying with more of the same... seriously.

Have you even seen

51 OMG's
13 Mrgreens
4 YAY's
5 PRETTY SCRIPTY's
6 BOINGYS
7 THANK YOU's

lately? And incase you didn't know the cute blue jumping thing in my avatar is called a boingy. I have alot of boingys in different colors. Any way thanks to Klaivas's advice you won't be seeing the above in such intense proportions any more.

And how am I supposed to detect sarcasm when alot of the people on here say things like that and mean them? Can we just drop it please? I don't things like this to take up threads again.

The original font must have contained precombined diacritics, but I can't find them in the code table for the Unicode version.
I haven't seen the code table, but I assume they were left out in the spirit of Unicode, which is to use as few precombined characters as possible to encode text in a way that's compatible with existing standards. I've downloaded the Unicode font, and I'll take a look at it, but I suspect the only thing to do is reduce the width of the diacritic characters to 0 and position them so that hey hang to the left.
There are more involved things that can be done (such as using OpenType) in order to get optimal diacritic placement for those whose editors support it. I'll look into that too.

Here's the entire code table I get for the Unicode Verdurian font:

Image

Just turning the diacritics into zero-width characters is probably the most practical/compatible fix.

Insulting/teasing other people in tiny letters: A good way to get people to respect you and think you're mature?

Yes, I am aware of the irony that this post of mine is bitterly sarcastic and thus somewhat insulting itself. Oh well.

Well they are acting like him. I was being truthful. I wasn't insulting or teasing him. Although if I was doing so I would have a right to do so because he's done it numerous times to me.

People aren't insulting you. They're just bothered that a discussion about Verdurian fonts has been cluttered with... well, I already put that list together. People don't think it's funny or cute, even though you might.

I don't think it's funny or cute. That is if your talking about insulting people and me being happy about scripts. Any way Zomp sorry about that.

OK... I'm back. Well, the reason I didn't respond on this thread (to Serali or anyone else) is simply because I've not been watching it.

As for the font file (which as I mentioned was just a remapping of zompist's verdurian.ttf), I've re-uploaded it here for easier downloading. I guess any further improvements to it will have to be done by people who aren't me. :|

I've turned the diacritic glyphs into zero-width characters: here's the new font. (I've renamed it "Verdurian CSUR" to make it easier to pick the right font for the right encoding.)

The text   now looks like this under Mozilla: Image

(The initial capital pe letter was munged up because, for some reason, a Greek polytonic font (and probably other fonts) on my system decided to dump some stuff into the Unicode private area... ugh.)

The same text under GIMP (well, after I specified the font to use): Image

And here's what Philip Newton's page now looks like on my browser:

Image

Leaving aside the totally bogus non-Verdurian characters, there's still a problem: the diacritics tend to be at the wrong places (especially those above small e). Oh well.

WurdBendur: Unfortunately, doing ligatures and stuff within the Unicode private ranges seems to be outside the realm of most text renderers; it seems we'll need something like Graphite.
