Avelan Catholicism
Avelan Catholicism
What was the Church of Avela like before it merged with the Cuezian faith? Are there any people who retain Avelan dogma completely, or even Terrestrial Roman Catholocism in Almea?
Re: Avelan Catholicism
By memory, so this may get corrected later...
In Kebri and Erenat, where there weren't many Arashei to begin with, the church isn't all that modified. It accepts the union and the holiness of Book of Eledh, but doesn't emphasize them much. (However, it places great store on the Book of Mihel, the third section of the union's scriptures.)
Similarly, in the E?rdur valley, where Arash?t was strong, it hasn't been greatly modified by the new doctrines; the books of Iesu (our New Testament) and Mihel are accepted but are less important than the Book of Eledh.
It's in the patriarchates in the middle-- largely those of Verduria and points south-- where a real effort has been made to integrate the two faiths.

Re: Avelan Catholicism
So really, there are 3 faiths: Modern Arashei, Modern AC, and Eledhat. Correct?zompist wrote:By memory, so this may get corrected later...

Re: Avelan Catholicism
They're under a theological union, so I wouldn't say they are three faiths. A good analogy might be the Roman Catholic Church and some of the Eastern Rites which accept the Pope's authority but have their own liturgy and practice.Cypress wrote:So really, there are 3 faiths: Modern Arashei, Modern AC, and Eledhat.
