The Verdurian Thread

I want to learn to speak Verdurian, but before I begin I would like to know how many people have had success with it. Just browsing it, it seems very straightforward, chronological, and simple, which is a plus. Overall, it seems very intuitive and I believe it's worth looking into. Has anyone else tried this course, and if so, can you converse reasonably well in Verdurian? How well does it describe today's society?

Any feedback is greatly appreciated, thanks!

I don't speak it but I wouldn't mind learning it because it is one of the conlangs (I have a list in my head with those :P ).

One of the problems is that the course is not adapted for my kind of learning. I don't tend to like text based self-study courses.

Unfortunately, the people who have mastered the language seem to drift away from the board! But I think there's a fair number of people who can deal pretty well with the language.

Indeed! Some of the people who have mastered Verduria well include Ihano (who does drop in occasionally) and pne (who doesn't any more, alas, although he still has a link on Mark's VV page under "Friends of Verduria"); among current ZBBers, I know that Neek seems to have a good knowledge of Verdurian and other Almean languages, and Shm Jay has probably been our greatest word-dropper when it comes to Verdurian terminology.

When the ZBB's predecessor, the Virtual Verduria Message Board, was founded back in 2000, the first several posts to it were entirely in Verdurian, until Mark noted that people could feel free to post in English, too. :) There are several other examples of posts in Verdurian and other Almean languages later on the Virtual Verduria board (including my own modest attempt), as well as scattered through the Almea forum here.
