Dhekhnam the Ottoman Empire

Post by So Haleza Grise »

Can anyone else see the parallels? To my mind, the millet system seems to be quite close to the Ktuvok's idea behind managing subject peoples. In particular, elevating figures like the Patriarch of Constantinople to a position of authority was an excellent way for both the ktuvoks and the Turks to maintain their own authority (e.g. it allowed the Turks to pose as defenders of Orthodoxy from the schismatic West).

I've been meaning to reply to this...

I didn't see any parallels before now, but I like the idea quite a bit 8) ; it certainly helps make the ktuvoks' policy toward their subject peoples much more comprehensible for me.
