My attempt at translating the first surah of the Qur'an into Verdurian. The ĥ in the translation is meant to be a Caďinor H, to show that it's not silent.
Suuraḣ al-Fatiḣaḣ <Soa duna uveca>
1. Ab nomán Allaḣei*, soei Muďei Volemei, soei Muďei Iosilei.
In the name of Allah, the Most Benevolent, the Most Merciful.
*Or "Ab Allaḣán".
2. Ta eglérom Allaḣ, so Sanno Almeië,
We praise Allah, the Lord of the Worlds,
3. So Muďem Volemem, so Muďem Iosil.
The Most Benevolent, the Most Merciful.
4. So Mašrom soei Dënei Ovnelei,
The Master of the Day of Judgment,
5. Ta Lë urisam, er tellam colapreca Lë.
We worship Thee, and seek Thine aid.
6. Tan ontenei soa ďayä eveda,
Show us the correct path,
7. Soa eveda soei ctelië kaëm Le ditavei, kaë řo prolagu so guriš Lë, er kaë řo zam iššelu.
The path of the people whom Thou favourest, who earn not Thy wrath, and who go not astray.
Comments from speakers of Arabic would be especially welcome, as I do not speak Arabic, and so was working from several English translations.

Re: Soa duna uveca
Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't it be the appositional phrases (most merciful etc. be in the dative and accusative respectively?

Re: Soa duna uveca
I'm not so sure about the first one, since it's describing "Allah," not "name," right?

I'm pretty sure an appositive should be in the case of its associated noun, as in Latin. Unfortunately I didn't cover it in the grammar... probably I've created an example somewhere...
In any case, there's a simple alternative: use še before the appositive; then it will appear in the nominative.
In verse 5 you want tellam (1p).
The very first "Allah" should be genitive Allaḣei.
In the Verdurian alphabet you can't just use Caďinor ȟ (koď), since that's the same character as Verdurian h. However, you can use Caďinor h (oď), which can be transliterated ḣ to make it clear it's not Verdurian h.

In that case, the E-V has a mistake in the entry for "name." "In the name of Enäron" is translated "ab nomán Enäron."

But it is the name of Allah - in what i gather is a possessive dative.justin wrote:I'm not so sure about the first one, since it's describing "Allah," not "name," right?

Yes, that's a mistake... it's corrected now.justin wrote:In that case, the E-V has a mistake in the entry for "name." "In the name of Enäron" is translated "ab nomán Enäron."
