Verdurian pools

Verdurians always have pools in their cribs but other people's don't seem as crazy about them, for example the Beic peoples. Is it more cultural then biological, then? What is other cultures' relationship to water and swimming like?

It's a little of both. Almean humans don't tolerate deserts very well, prefer to live by the water, and frequently bathe if possible. (The Bé live in a rain forest, so there are usually natural water sources around.) Sometimes it's integrated into other aspects of the lifestyle: maintaining irrigation works, for instance.

But some cultures are definitely less water-oriented— the Barakhinei and the Eynleyni, for instance.

That surprises me with the Eynleyni- given that the ktuvokî live in swamps, I'd assume that bathing would be seen as somehow holy.

Or maybe it's restricted to the "Gods"? Do it as little as possible. You're a dirty human, bathing is something you only get to do twice a year (a la Mediaeval Europe)?
