Queen Andrea is listed in the almeopedia as having a brother Martino, there's no mention of his death in the Almeopedia, but when Andrea disappears, there's no mention of his possibly being king, even though Ihano is even brought up as an option again.

What happened to him in the intervening years?

That is a bit of a loose end, thanks for catching it. The unfortunate young man died before Andrea's expedition. (A respectable illness— no foul play is suspected.)

Actually, the Almeopedia article is contradictory here: "In cuéndimar of 3301, she set sail again, taking the Gintro Elreë, her flagship on the Xurnese expedition, and one of the Navy's fastest ships.She brought along an experienced crew, her brother Martino, and several Knights of Dévora.", (this is also in contradiction with your staement above), but later in the article it says that "Martino had died", without mentioning any circumstances.

D'oh. Well, I decided that if he was alive, she really couldn't take him with. So he gets to stay home, albeit dead.
