Almean metric

Would Almean scientists and reformers develop a metric system? If so, what measurements and (sub)multiples would they base it on?

As they're at around the same sci-tech level as our 18th century, I'd say somebody on Verduria almost certainly would invent a metric system soon. The numbers 8, 10 and 18 come up a lot in Verdurian counting bases, so I expect units would be grouped into multiples of one or more of those.

I think the system would have trouble gaining wide aceptance though, given the communications technology available and the lack of international institutions.

I note that the flaids have had a fichmo (decimal) system since 3216, and it already seems to be having an effect abroad...
