Where do articles derive from?

Questions or discussions about Almea or Verduria-- also the Incatena. Also good for postings in Almean languages.

Where do articles derive from?

Post by Piero »

Cadhinor has no articles, but its daughter languages has: Verdurian has "so", Barakhinei has "il"...why?

Maybe these descend from a barbarian language?

That's why the lexicons have etymologies. :)

Verdurian so (and Ismain se) derive from Cadhinor soh, an adjective meaning 'aforementioned'. (Unwieldly in English, but compact in Spanish (dicho) or French ledit.)

Barakhinei il derives from the Cadhinor pronoun illu 'that one'.

It does seem to be the most common way of articles forming. There aren't a whole lot of ways that they can form.
