Numbers on more than 20,000 ways
Hi all,
I just want to tell everyone on this board that you sent me numbers from your conlang(s) that the total number of languages (conlangs, natlangs, other languages / speeches, their dialects and additional variants) in my collection numbers on more than 20,000 different ways. I think I have today data for numbers at 20.240 ways.
Now I do not know the number of how many I have conlangs information numbers, because I still edit, those files where I specifically mention conlangs. I think I have somewhere between 8,000 and 9,000. When I have more precise information, I'll notify on ZBB in future.
I sincerely thank you for all your help in the collection of numbers!
I wish you all every success in your work!
Janko Gorenc

Re: Numbers on more than 20,000 ways
Miar is complicated, but:
1 nä
2 (qul)ehhu
3 (qo)wönʔ
4 (qo)baṟë
5 mash(öl)
6 nämash(öl)
7 ehhunth(öl)
8 wönʔansh(öl)
9 baṟënth(öl)
10 mashakh (qul)ehhu
11-20 = phyänha / phyänl / phyäŋ + 1-10
20-29 = phyäñe ehhu / phyäñehhu + 1-10
30-39 = phyäñe wönʔ + 1-10
etc
Numbers come after the noun.
The parenthesized prefixes in 2-4 are only used when the object is definite. Definiteness in Miar is Complicated. They aren't used in 12-14 or any higher numbers.
The word for 'five' is equivalent to the word for 'hand' and is inflected for definiteness accordingly, but I won't get into that here. The word for 'ten' means 'two hands'. Phyäŋ is a plurale tantum that originally meant 'feet', but is now archaic. Counting is usually done in tens: nä, ehhu, wönʔ, baṟë, mashöl, nämash, ehhunth, wönʔansh, baṟënth, mashakh qulehhu, phyänha nä, ehhu, wönʔ, ..., mashakh qulehhu, phyäñehhu, ehhu, wönʔ, ..., mashakh qulehhu, phyäñe wönʔ, ehhu, ..., and in practice, mashakh qulehhu is almost always reduced to mashakh.
Pronunciation: [nɛ qʼʊd͡ɮehhʊ qʼɔwø̃ʔ qʼɔbarˠə masød͡ɮ nɛmas ʔehhũθ wø̃ʔãs barˠə̃θ masax qʼʊd͡ɮehhʊ pʰjɛ̃hanɛ...] (stress is always final for now)

So, what happens to 21-30? Is there an irregularity that makes it difficult to choose a single form?

I would be interested to see what the "weighted" average of those numbers would come out to.

Re: Numbers on more than 20,000 ways
Speeches are a subset of dialects. Just as sub-dialects. Speech are a small group of dialects. In most cases, this refers to speaking people, where people from one town/ village speak differently in the first town/ village. Otherwise, I have to say that the speech used in Slavic languages: Slovenian, Croatian, Serbian, Russian, ...jal wrote:Quite impressive Janko, congratulations!Janko Gorenc wrote:I present below all data from my collection.

Re: Numbers on more than 20,000 ways
Thank you for sending numbers from your conlangs
I would like to say that I have just raised numbers in 9,000 conlangs.
I will try to send all the names conlangs from which I have numbers in my collection so far in one of the threads on the ZBB (Conlagery & Conworlds) in the future.
But I have to say that it will take time since I put forward the names of more than 9,000 languages. As soon as possible I'm finished. I would also like to say that every month I get almost 100 new conlangs.
I wish you a lot of success at your works!
