Rapid Development

Post by Lithray »

How would one go about rapidly developing a country to an industrialized civilization standard of life? (Think Spain had post 1940-70's tech when it reached Brazil.) I have ideas but am curious as to what you guys think.

My attempt at decoding: He means a scenario where e.g. Spain would have developed so fast (presumably starting in Antiquity or the early Middle Ages) that it would have been at 20th century tech levels when the age of discoveries started. (And I assume that Lithray is posting from a parallel universe where the Spanish discovered Brazil).

Thank you hwatting; that is exactly what I meant.

As far as I can tell, there would be seven primary components that would need to be implemented. Those are communication, healthcare, housing, power, production, transportation, and waste management.
  • phone/internet
    hospitals
    homes
    electric grid
    electric production
    manufacturing
    mining
    farming
    roads
    trains
    airports
    sea ports
    landfills
    recycling
    sewage
    compost
    collection

Finding out what resources are available would be the first priority.

Well if we're to take Iceland as an example the necessary preconditions for those things would be for someone somewhere else to invent them.
