I was very young. I wouldn't call what I was doing then a conlang, but it's the earliest record I have of what would become Hellesan.

I started conlanging when I was 9 or 10 years old. My first conlangs were a lot like English, as you might expect.

1S figure.out-PV REL.SUB it COP-IRR interest-PRT.IPV include-INF grammar in 1S.POS writing-PL in PROX strand (despite if PROX-PL NEG COP-IRR very strange).
I've realized that it would be interesting to include glosses in my posts in this thread (even if these ones aren't very out there).

I barely started conlanging a few months ago. I'm a noob...

Ase jhoë empe makar landezedh, n dali the gulab landeze. Kivredi beger davo moc.
Conlanging is very fun though, and I have learned much about language. I wish I had started earlier.

I started 3 or 4 years ago, with 'Aneška', which I'm using in a story. It's spoken by dragons, but it's not a Standard Fantasy Language.

At the moment I would say that I have been conlanging for four years or more but my Conlangs never go very far. Sofar, I've only managed a small grammar, maybe some syntax and then I get bored. Does anyone have any advice?

You should design a conworld where people use the language.

I started conlanging when I was around 14 (12 years ago). My languages usually don't survive very long. Icastrian (this language) is my longest-surviving conlang; it's about two years old.

I've been conlanging since I was 10. That was 13 years ago. My first was this one, Hurga ker Maja. It's somewhat clunky and europeanish, but I love it regardless.

My conlangs are boring because they lack complexity. However, this language has a more complex romanization.

Esi bieat̂azda pov̌oǰ lavoco voti. Nevaňoda t̂o ecu bieat̂azda nehosi.
This was my first conlang. I hated it because it was horrible.

Note: I made my first conlang before I knew anything about linguistics...

What do you consider "conlanging"? I started when I was six, but at the time I hardly new anything but how to count to two.

You must distinguish between doing a cipher and inventing a lang with its own lexicon and grammar.

Incidentally, the video by John McWhorter that was making the rounds on the internet recently describes what a conlang is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5mZ0R3h8m0

I made many of my languages to make passports, banknotes, and visas. The reason's because I hate worlds with many countries but only a single language: they're not realistic. It's a reason why one of my brother's novels irritates me: he made seven "different" countries that were all just Anglophone. He certainly missed an opportunity to make something potentially awesome.
