I'm still alive! I was thinking of coming up with a new cross-cultural spiritual/social movement for the drama round, but it never really came together, and I've been doing a lot of work on my languages for the ongoing reconstruction game. Anyway, lots of cool stuff! Here are my votes:

1. Magic temporarily becomes more powerful
2. Giant Glowing Ball from the Heavens!
3. The bomb
4. The great wobble

Hard to choose. I submit:

1. Tree golems.
2. Brain-infesting terror amoeba.
3. Earthquake golems.
4. Fa plant.

One query? How could the Great Wobble possibly be a "local catastrophe"?

It can't, obviously. Possibly a flaw in the idea. If it doesn't get enough votes to become global, we could just scrap it. Frankly I liked the amoeba more, but it doesn't seem to have gotten many votes.

Aaaaand the results are in.

Comet impact - Lyhoko Leaci - 15
Magical long-distance transport - Mornche Geddick - 14
Shadow Monster Plague - ol bofosh - 12
The Great Wobble - Hydro - 12

Magic temporarily becomes more powerful - Mornche Geddick - 11
The Bomb - Matrix - 11
Brain-infesting terror amoeba - Hydro - 8
Fa plant (steroidal) - clearsand - 4
Tree Golems - zompist - 4
Earthquake golems - Dē Graut Bʉr - 4
Mercury golems - Ahzoh - 3
Zombie potato famine - HandsomeRob - 2

So, for sure: a big ol' glowing fireball from the heavens scatters chunks all over CCCP in 5463. I think this may actually solve the Torcs' tree golem problem, actually.

And also for sure: the magical transport stuff.

The next three should be at medium level. So, a bunch of shadow monsters in the western islands, and possibly Lyranis and Ars Land.

And I'd say magic becomes somewhat more powerful. That in itself might explain the wobble.

The other entries should remain events, but restricted to the cultures involved. (Or if you want to quietly drop an idea, that's ok.)

I suppose that that comet impact would leave a lot of dust in the atmosphere. Does that mean that the climate will temporarily be colder?

Note that the comet itself doesn't impact, it just passes very close, while the impacts are from various fragments that broke off of the comet at some point. (Maybe the comet passed close to one of the outer gas giant planets which caused it to break up, and then the fragments were left on a course that would take it past the CCCP, with some impacting?)

The effects other than the impacts/airbursts themselves would probably be similar to the year without a summer.

Seems like excitement has gone down a bit. Perhaps we should take a short break?

Perhaps that might be a god idea. I think some people may be running out of ideas and or free time.

I think much sowing has been done, but perhaps not enough reaping? compilation, taking the data in the threads and putting it into a wiki or something like that?

Yeah, I think what we really need now is to weave all of this information into a single CCC narrative. I'd be happy to make a "visitor's guide" or something. But it does make sense to take a break while we digest everything and upload it to wikis.

OK, no new rounds for a couple months, but I encourage people to get their history together.

We do have a wiki, y'know. If you don't have an account, tell me.

I'll admit here, I got inspired to work on something else, and I have very limited time to devote to my hobbies, so I have kind of eased off on this. Sorry for not participating in this past round.

I've been very busy with other stuff at the moment. Just enough time to contribute something - missed the last two votes. It's spring, and everything's growing all at once (literally and figuratively).

I'm okay for a break. Maybe I'll collate something for the Wiki.We shall see with time.
It was about time I changed this.

Since the CCC seems to have been revived, I guess I have some questions for this round. Can we determine with any certainty where the impact of the comet fragment was, and what ecological effects it had?

Re-reading Lyhoko's event, it looks like the main impact is to the south of the Nggwo (who are at I2) and on the coast. So perhaps somewhere near the square previously claimed by ceresz.

I'm not sure how the physics would go, but I guess since that's near the equator, more polar impacts would be less likely. If anyone wants to claim an impact on their territory-- or if you're particularly concerned to avoid one, please say so, otherwise I'll roll some dice.
