I think I do want it to have tenses, but I don’t know how to fit them in anymore with the im-/perfectivity I’ve already got. This language resembles an Indo-European one, which is why I want there to be tenses in it. Does anything suggest itself to any of you? What do you think about a prefix (like the augment)? Or an auxiliary verb?

(Im-/perfectivity is already marked suffixally, and I don’t want tense to be the same.)

here.is and back-throw-FSG.NOM preverbal-NPL.NOM in REL-NPL.DAT become.IPFV-3PL without-head-NSG.DAT time-NSG.NOM and aspect
And the answer: preverbal elements, in which tense gets mixed up with aspect.

How I did it in Old Zlang is, going from Proto-Tshyak, which does not have tense, making the perfective become past perfective and the imperfective become present imperfective, and deriving the past imperfective from the imperfective with an auxiliary verb, the future perfective from the perfective with an auxiliary verb, and the future imperfective from the imperfective with an auxiliary verb.

I kinda feel that way. Or maybe I'm just tired. School [i.e. University] wore me out.

On the other hand, I just discovered that Vaida Mi ha didn't have a word for "or". So that's fixed.

Tautisca is an a posteriori Indo-European language, for which I aimed at a North-Western flavour, a language with affinities to Italic, Celtic, Germanic, and Balto-Slavic.
