Unless, of course, your conlang happens by some string of increasingly implausible coincidences to derive from a proto-language virtually identical yet wholly unrelated to Proto-Celtic, I think it's worth pointing out that *adbertā already meant "sacrificial victim" in Proto-Celtic, rather than "something for stewing".

True, and thank you for pointing that out. It confirms what I thought but I wasn't sure. I saw how Matasovic mentioned it might come from what I mentioned before that stage, so I thought this would make the perfect mistake. In the conworld, Rosmwrec was a language that died and has been reconstructed, at times with error, for the purposes of promoting an artificial ethnic identity (though most people don't know that fact).
