I don't own a Mac, so I can't really help you. Are you using the Mac version? Does it just not work, or crash, or does it say it's missing files? You could ask Sko, as he compiled that one for me.

Yeah, I don't know what that means. Maybe it is missing files, but OSX does not deign to tell us which ones? Perhaps someone who uses a Mac can enlighten us. :P What does it say when you show the details?

Alright, it looks like it might be an issue with the XML module not being included. I'll go bother Sko about it.

Re: the Windows version and loading UTF-8 files, I have fixed this, but it will probably mess up if your CSV files are not UTF-8, so make sure they are. I'll upload the exe in a minute, and the Qt libraries for Windows also have to be updated, it looks like. When I get the next actual version done, I'll have it so you can pick your file encoding out of a drop-down, now that I know how to change that.

ETA: Fixed Windows version is up, at the same links. Also, if you redownload the Windows version, you also need to redownload the Windows Qt libraries.

Son of ETA: Also note that, due to the way I reorganized my harddrive when I reinstalled Windows, the name of the exe is now "ConlangDictionary-Windows.exe" rather than just "ConlangDictionary.exe", so it won't overwrite the old one, and you should delete it [the old one] by hand.

The program can't start because libgcc_s_dw2-1.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

Ahh, MinGW dlls have changed too, I guess. Hold on.

ETA: Ok, download it again, and see if it works. (This might explain why the exe is only half the size it was the last time I compiled on Windows, actually.)

The Mac version is only really available at the whim of someone with a Mac who wants to compile it, so I can't say. However, I suspect that if you install Qt on your Mac, the version that is up should run, if its only problem is just that it's missing the XML module.

Awesome. :)

Yeah, I seem to recall that the cutesy Mac buttons were cutting off the text before, too, for unknown reasons. In pic2, the third button is supposed to say "Change Type/Subtype", and the other one, they are "Set Language Name", "Set Application Font", and "Clear Current Dictionary".

What do you mean, it doesn't work? The characters don't show up, or you are having trouble with your input method, or something? If the characters just don't show up, you should try changing the font to something with unicode.

It sounds like your palette program is having trouble with something - just use it with a text editor or something that you know it works with, and then copy and paste the character where you want it.

I just tried it. Looks great.

There's a few things missing:
  • Using the clusters thing for phonotactics is a pain. Is there a way to allow typing directly into the text boxes?
  • The Lexique Pro import doesn't seem to be working yet... Bummer, I have one ready :)
Other than that, thumbs up :D

Well, that whole page is going to get revamped shortly anyway, and everything will be feature-driven instead, which would mean you could specify that your onsets are, e.g. "plosive + liquid" instead of "pr br tr dr kr gr pl bl tl dl kl gl", so that should make it slightly less painful. The problem with just letting you type whatever into the boxes is that verifying that you haven't typed something that doesn't make any sense is a pain, and it makes more sense and is less bug-prone to just restrict what you can enter in the first place.

Did you set the paradigms to what they actually are in the .db file?

Yes.

I have \lx, \ps, and \ge for all of them.

The .db file also has other fields other than those, like \sn, \xv, \dt. Do I have to include all those too, even though Conlang Dictionary doesn't have any use for them (and so should just ignore them)?

No, you shouldn't - just the ones that you are actually using. Can I see the file? I think you can just attach it to a post, and then delete it after I say I've got it.

I don't really want to get all tech-support-needy on you, but I can't find answers anywhere else.

I downloaded the .dll files, which I was missing, and tried to run CD, and it came up with this message:

"The procedure entry point _Z9qBadAllocv could not be located in the dynamic link library link library QtCore4.dll."

I've tried to find answers in other places and haven't had any luck, so I'd like some help. CD looks like a wonderful program, and I'm anxious to use it.
