If it's something that's closer to vertical than horizontal, pubblelas, lit. "resting by leaning". This is also the name of the letter for the glottal stop (which doesnt actually occur in Poswa, but it's in the alphabet so they can write loans)treskro wrote:fontaketh n inan - traction < font "hold" + ak "earth" + eth "intensifier"

No planks in your conworld? Why don't you suggest a theme or genre and we can try to suggest words in that vein.
Re: Lexicon Building
I have over 7000 words in Poswa, but still struggle with basic vocabulary sometimes. I dont like having one-morpheme roots for manmade objects because this is supposed to be a language for people who climbed out of true ferality, when they had no clothes and no tools or weapons.clawgrip wrote:Himmaswa: plar /pla̰˞ː/sano wrote: next: to receive; to accept

But I've used semantic shifts for some things, such as wall (of a canyon) > wall of a building. I used this root also for "plank, board, sheet of any hard material" in the proto-lang of Poswa and Pabappa, but even though it wouldn't collide with anything important phonologically I wanted to do something different for that concept in the daughter languages. Poswa doesn't have a single word for it, it has tem "stood on" when it's just one element of a compound (e.g. kaetem "skateboard") and tšol for the word by itself. But this is a one-morpheme root, which is precisely what I wanted to avoid, so I may have some more work to do.
