There is a Poland-like country named Mappamensam, which has coastline at the top and a large plain body with mountains at the very southern edge. In the mountains there live a race of humans with sharp teeth that are this world's answer to vampires. The word for them in Poswa is pisipa, from p-......-a "having a(n) ____" and -isip- "vampire face". That is, being a vampire is a state that one can come into, not necessarily a state one is born into.

I wasn't consciously thinking of Transylvania when I put the vampires here, but I may have been thinking of it subconsciously. There are also creatures believed by the Poswobs to be fairies, who share some traits of the vampires, but do not have sharp teeth. They live only in high deserts such as Džasše and "in the center of islands where there is no water".
