Thanks, I already did "raspberrry" a few pages ago when the challenge word was just "berry" and I wasnt quite satisfied with it. Your etymology gives me another idea: describe the bush instead of the berry. That said, sometimes real life is messy too. Nobody knows where "raspberry" comes from ... etymonline gives 2 theories: 1) a kind of sweet wine, possibly named after an Old French word "raspe". Apparently in Old French there was a word raspe that by itself meant raspberry, and the wine was named after that. So we named a berry after a wine that was named after that berry, even though that wine was made from grapes and would presumably have no connection in the minds of English speakers to a raspberry other than maybe its color. Sounds pretty specious to me. Interestingly, if that theory is true, it is possible that it came from raspoie "thicket", which matches your etymology exactly. But why would a short word come from a long one? That sounds pretty suspicious too. The other theory agrees with the first except that instead of coming from a word for "thicket" just simply says that it's "rasp" + "berry", because raspberries apparently looked raspy to some Norman farmer living around 1066 and the name stuck and therefore is actually a loan from English (or Frankish, etc) into French rather than French to English.. But what's so raspy about a raspberry? Is it the thorns? Did he stab himself on a thorn? Do the raspberry bushes in Norman France even have thorns? Seems not. Strawberry is at least better understood, in that it most likely comes from a time when "straw" was seen as a noun formed from the strong verb "strew" (sorry I dont know the correct grammatical term for this. Passive participle?) the way "cold" is from "cool" and "food" from "feed". Strawberry thus means "a berry strewn about". But etymonline has another theory that it is literally just "straw" + "berry" because a farmer in the year 868 or so said that it looked like straw and nobody else had ever seen a strawberry before or at least they didnt have a better name for it so it stuck.

Unnamed Rom-lang:

diffunder [difːunder] (v.) to spread out, to diffuse, from Latin diffundere
(most likely it would be just like French diffuser)

emitter [əmitːer] (v.) to send forth, to emit, from Latin ēmittere

transmitter [transmitːer] (v.)to send across, to transmit, from Latin trānsmittēre

transmission [transmisːjɔ̃], emission [əmisːjɔ̃], diffusion [difːusːjɔ̃] are all derived nouns that mean the same as their English equivalents.

Next word: romantic

Pabappa: wipombi, from Bābākiam kiamabu bemi ŋi, "evergreen with branches". Contrasts with wipambi, a palm tree, which doesn't., Im not actually sure how the sound changes happened here, I think I might have assumed it was "wip pome be" or something at an intermediate stage, and then the three words were put together.
Poswa: Im not really sure what a conifer is, Im pretty sure though that what I call a "pine tree" is basically the same thing, so I use ipi, the Poswa word for pine tree. This would have shown up in Pabappa as ibi, but it was removed because it had collided with three other words whose cognates in Poswa were ibi, šibži, and židži.
