Taking a break from my main project and experimenting around abit.

so... The Alai language:

consonants
b,t,k,m,j,h,l,s,x,f,'
b,t,l,s may be geminated inside words.
allowed clusters:

/l/ may be an /r/-tap before long non-nasal wovels
/b/ /t/ /k/ is at end of unconjugated verbs de/voiced to /p/ /d/ /g/

a,ą,i,o,y,e,é(low tone),u,ú(low tone),aa,ii,oo,ąi,ai,aai

Your phonology is interesting but there are a couple of things about it that are odd and uncommon in natlangs, one of which is the presence of just a single nasal phoneme /m/. Very few natlangs have the consonant /m/ but lack /n/. Also it is odd that /b/ devoices but that /t/ and /k/ voice at the end of unconjugated verbs. If you want to make your language have a more naturalistic phonology, perhaps you could add the consonant /n/ and get rid of the devoicing of /b/.

Old Basque lacked /m/ but had /n/, and as far as I know it was the only nasal it had, so I can't see why I couldn't do the opposite... obviously more wackoed.
^edit: everything with /ą/ is of course also an nasal.

I have eventually decided to make my language have a /p/ gap rather than a /b/ gap, so that its phonology is more natural. So this is its finalized phonology:

Consonants:
Plosive: /b t d k g q ɢ/
Fricative: /s h/
Nasal: /m n ŋ ɴ/
Approximant: /l ʁ̞/

Vowels: /i a u/

Allophony:
/i/ and /u/ lower to [e] and [o] respectively when occurring before a uvular consonant, and this is shown in the orthography.

Syllable structure is (C)VC. Uvular consonants do not occur word-initially.

Are you from Denmark? I always thought stød was very interesting, but quite hard to recognize. Sometimes I'm convinced the only way Danes can distinguish between stød and non-stød words (especially monosyllabic) is by context. Its too ambiguous otherwise...
