Re: Sound Change Game
Epœcuɒtœ has this thing going on where what consonants can be beside a given vowel are very specific. In fact, if you have any two given vowels, there will be exactly one specific consonant allowed between them. I make no claims to realism. It's pretty much just this weird phonological experiment that came from an idea I had of a 'reverse abjad', that is, a writing system where the vowels are written and the consonants implied. In fact, the name 'Epœcuɒtœ' is a transliteration into the language of 'abjad'. Epœcuɒtœ is pronounced [ebɶɟu͡ɒdɶ]. The language has intervocalic voicing allophony for its stops and fricatives, save ejectives and aspirated stops.Poplar wrote:e → o ?Matrix wrote:Aidisese nuxe [nu.xe] Epœcuɒtœ nɒekqo [nɒ͡ekʼo]
Anyways, this leads to two methods of transliteration:
1. Preserving the vowels, leading to the likely complete change of the consonants as they conform to the language's adjacency rules.
2. Preserving the consonants, leading to the likely complete change of the vowels as they conform to the language's adjacency rules.
I've been using the second method, so far.
At the very least, this language has merit as a way to fuck things up here in the sound change game

Epœcuɒtœ peisy [pe͡izy] Vinnsk <písðu> [ˈpɔisθʏ] (actually, that would be something like <písa-þú> [pʰɛiːsɑː + θuː] = imperative form, while <písi> would be the subjunctive plural for all persons)
