Still working on this, but I think it's an improvement on the Omya that I put up last year.

I don't think there will end up being more than about 500 or so logograms.

Looks good. As you say yourself, reminds one of Maya glyphs. Really fit for inscribing a stele or a temple wall.

Yes. That's the idea. I want it to evoke the look and feel of Mayan while not necessarily functioning in a similar way.

Hmmm, interesting.
What I like is that you can encode the glyph as binary string. Not counting the dot inside blank space you have 2^12 possible combination of 3x3 glyph. It totals to 4096.

Anyone know how to count the possible combinations that considers dot(s) inside blank space?

I forgot to mention that I have been trying a handwritten version and that seems to be developing similarly to the image you displayed.

Try not to overthink it. The total number of possible glyphs is far less important to me than a functional and aesthetically pleasing system.

Problem? How 'bout feature...yeah, I like the idea of it being a feature instead of a problem. Let's go with that.
