We got an impressive total of 21 maps! You can find them all in this thread. However, I've put thumbnails of them all in the image below. I normalized the ocean color and in a few cases rotated the map to show the map better in the grid available.

Unfortunately the board's voting software only allows 10 choices! So, please add a post to vote. All you need is a name. As agreed, non-participants can vote. Don't vote for yourself.

EDIT: Consensus is in favor of ranked voting, which gives much more information that we'll want to provide multiple continents. Ideally, provide four or five names, in descending order of preference.

I'll leave voting open for 72 hours (unless anyone objects strongly).

Yeah, SP is a terrible voting method for these purposes. In particular, if you're going to have a ranked outcome (not just one winner but a list of losers in order), then SP is essentially no matter at modeling community preferences than just picking the order randomly. [For instance, with 10 voters, the option that is 2nd favourite of 10 people will be ranked lower than the option that is the least favourite of 9 people but the favourite of 1...]

On the vote: at least can we not vote for one of the ones that look like a giant island, with a mountain range right down the middle? Continents really don't tend to look like islands, and vice versa (and actually, even large islands tend to have their hills at one side rather than in the middle).

I'd also suggest considering - but then I would since it was part my design principles - selecting somewhere with scope for multiple cultural spheres? Should make history more interesting. What I mean by that is that designs like Rob's or Zompist's encourage any cultures to quickly contact one another and merge, or at least intertwine culturally and politically. Designs like mine or Ars Lande's divide potential cultural zones, allowing civilisations to develop more independently for longer.

This and the fact there isn't a poll makes me think we vote for more than one map. I want to ask, what is the formula for scoring votes? And for how many can we vote?

Gonna agree with others that the votes should be ranked, especially since my understanding was that the outcomes would be ranked, with a Eurasia, Africa, North America, South America, Australia, islands type result. Everyone update your votes to rank candidates!
