Poblas is a constructed language which I'm currently creating. It has no gender whatsoever (unlike German der, das, die, etc.). Its structure is fairly simple and there are no exceptions. It is based somehow on Latin, but it has been modified greatly (occasional needs).

Poblas, constructed language in progress
Re: Poblas, constructed language in progress
Welcome to the ZBB. Pickles and tea, etc.
You seem to be off to an alright start, though depending on the setting, your use of Latin/Spanish/Greek might be a little questionable. With regard to your phonology, are/ʃ/ and /ɕ/ supposed to be two separate phonemes written with the same letter <ɕ>, or is there one phoneme with the realisations [ʃ] and [ɕ]? Ditto for /b/ and /β/ If so, use [square brackets], as opposed to /phonemic slashes/. People on this board are real sticklers about that, but the distinction between phonemes and phones is an important one. With this and the multiple realisations you give your vowels, you should probably make it clearer whether the various surface forms are in free variation or contextually conditioned and, in the case of the latter, give the conditions for each allophone.
Also, if you're going to use /ɱ/, you should know that only one natural language does that, and even then maybe not. A b/β/v contrast is also vanishingly rare.
It'd be interesting to see a diachronic explanation of your morphology. Was it once more agglutinative than it is? Why are some endings easily separable into morphemes, while others are not? Why are the endings of the adjectives so different from those of the nouns? These are questions you might want to consider.
Synchronically, you could expand on the uses of the cases, the moods and, if there's something unexpected about them, the tenses.
Some more examples could really make what you're saying a whole lot clearer, especially in the syntax section.

The letter <ɕ> has either pronunciation. In the same way, the letter <b> can be pronounced as /b/ or as /β/, so that e.g. babo (if it existed) would be pronounced /'bä.βɔ/. By the way: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:IPA#Brackets

Hilariously, you have this the wrong way round.Rhombic wrote:The letter <ɕ> has either pronunciation. In the same way, the letter <b> can be pronounced as /b/ or as /β/, so that e.g. babo (if it existed) would be pronounced /'bä.βɔ/. By the way: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Help:IPA#Brackets

Re: Poblas, constructed language in progress
Dewrad's right. It's, basically, <orthographic> vs. /phonemic/ vs. [phonetic], e.g. <babo> /ba.bo/ ['bä.βɔ].
You can tell the same lie a thousand times,
But it never gets any more true,
So close your eyes once more and once more believe
That they all still believe in you.
Just one time.
