The Next Relay 2015

Post by Nannalu »

(Continuing my collabworlds issues thread)
À la The Cursed Relay's beginnings, here's another relay. We'll have two teams, a protolang and daughters from each. Who's up for it? A conworld should come out of this eventually. I think it'll be a fun idea.

I suggest we have at least three people on each team?

The conlanger formerly known as “the conlanger formerly known as Pole, the”.

If we don't study the mistakes of the future we're doomed to repeat them for the first time.

Team 1: Neon Fox, De Graut Bur, (empty)
Team 2: Nannalu, Pogostick, (empty)

I’m in under the condition that we will agree upon the cultural context beforehand. Conlanging without pragmatics is bland.

I think it would be best if the two daughter languages/families were set in differing geographical/cultural situations to give a clue as to the direction they would take.

If nobody else, I might be able to spare some time for one of these. Never tried collablangs before, though, so I don't know how well I'll work.

It’s a first for me, as well. You gotta start somewhere.

Whilst I agree, it can't be too much context. If possible, somebody can draw up a map and we can mark the Urheimat of our two teams and we can eventually begin to mark out the migrations of our peoples as we develop the daughter langs.

Fair enough. Do we have anyone with drawing skills? (You wouldn’t want to see a map designed by me.)

Technically, there's plenty of empty Akana, but I think something new would be more challenging.

I cannot art, though, so I'm not the one to produce a map. :)

I guess I have some time, and I'm kind of bored working on the same few things over and over. Might I could join?

EDIT: To be honest tho my primary interests are in developing a proto-lang and/or working on the map (tho I'm far out of practice on the latter). And cosmologies and myths.

Neat. As for the map, not half bad. Contrary to IGN however I'd prefer more water. Anyway, if I can get to a scanner I have a few maps in my sketchbooks that might could be of use.

Also, we'd probably need a mediator to create the forum and facilitate the game.

It does have a nice long stretch of east-west land in the northern temperate zone, so that's a plus.

So, what kind of time relationships are we looking at? Proto-lang Bronze Age, Classical, medieval, something else?

Sure, you're Team 2 :-D

@Vidurnaktis, I doubt we need one just yet. This thread and PMs should suffice. We can set up a wikia?

@Fox, Bronze Age I think.

As this is my first time: do we create a Bronze Age protolang together first, and then each team create a daughter language in the classical era?
