Once there was a king. He was childless. The king wanted a son. He asked his priest: "May a son be born to me!" The priest said to the king: "Pray to the god Werunos". The king approached the god Werunos to pray now to the god. "Hear me, father Werunos!" The god Werunos came down from heaven to that place. "What do you want?" "I want a son." "With that it is so", said the bright god Werunos. The king's lady bore a son

Is yours West Germanic too?
Yes. I was thinking of making it Anglo-Frisian, but I don't like palatalization of /k/... on the other hand, I can't realistically do much else, since there's some Scottish Gaelic influence eventually.

It's hard to hate someone whose grandmother you know.
I came up with this idiom in Dwarfish because I couldn't think for the life of me of an English phrase conveying the same thing.
Basically it means that you're admitting to hating someone or being openly hostile to someone in a situation where acting like that is inappropriate or awkward. The inference is that it's difficult to hate someone whose grandmother (or whole family) you know because the family will think less of you but despite this social pressure you're continuing to hate and be abrasive to the person anyway. It's highlighting how strong your dislike is that it can power through social protocol.
You'd use it in such a situation as this - you're at a party with some friends and that bastard Dave is there. You hate Dave. He did that thing a while ago, remember? What a bastard. But the party is of a mutual friend of your's and Dave's so you're both there. You end up in a conversation containing Dave. You're rude and abrasive and impolite to Dave in the conversation to the obvious discomfort of the rest of the group including the host. You leave the group and a friend comes up to you and says "Jesus, you were being a dick to Dave," and you scowl and down your drink and mutter "it's hard to hate someone whose grandmother you know,".

Two very distantly related languages and their common ancestor.
