Ningaa is the goddess of femininity, life and creation. Nortaneous has been addressed in the animate gender as all non-Ngolu heathen men are (not the masculine). The loanwords jiza '(be) Jesus' and kotw '(be) the Judeo-Christian god' are referred to in the inanimate - in the case of Jesus, because he is dead and dead people are always either indicated in the inanimate or in the animate with the perfect marker, and in the case of God, basically just because it's a heathen concept.

I used the masculine to describe you now. A real Ngolu would not do this. As none of us are initiated into Ngolu manhood, we'd all be animate. And ali means 'friend' when used with the dative case and 'boyfriend' when used with genitive.
