I have nothing to compare with but I have to say that it sound like he's singing with an "american" accent.

Technically it would be a Canadian accent, as Bruce Cockburn is a Canadian.
But yeah, I see what you're saying. I do know, however, that he got this guy to teach him how to pronounce it in such a way that he wasn't making an absolute hash out of it.
