Why don't they just sell all the meat to Poland like we do?Radius Solis wrote:Not sure if a related story has been posted yet or not, but:

Random atmospheric phenomenon, proof of alien visitation or just the next wave in movie viral-marketing campaigns? The halo cloud over Moscow.

The LHC-discovered Higgs boson reaching back through time to prevent the LHC from discovering it? Why CERN isn't dismissing it as crackpottery. Apparently the math actually does work out.
The math works out for a lot of things (or so I gather from string theory!). There's a longer article here, by a physicist even.Radius Solis wrote:The LHC-discovered Higgs boson reaching back through time to prevent the LHC from discovering it? Oh, also, for all those who had Spirograph sets as a kid... I ran across an online generator.
It's no wonder that Lincoln Chaffee was from RI&PP
I found it through slightly controversial special election in northern New York State, but the fascinating graph of party ideologies in the state legislatures shown below is derived from this paper by Boris Shor, Christopher Berry and Nolan McCarty of the University of Chicago.
I think, essentially, that the two vertical lines represent a sort of average ideological point for members of the federal congress and that the bars represent an ideological range, with the black line within each bar being an ideological average.
The most striking things are that California has the most progressive Democrats and the most conservative Republicans whereas Democrats in Mississippi are to the right of Republicans in Illinois, Oregon, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Hawai'i, New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts. Some other southern states have similar patterns. My native Commonwealth of Pennsylvania seems to have relatively convergent parties with slightly less progressive than average Democrats and slightly less conservative than average Republicans.
Unrelated to all of that, I really highly recommend watching the premiere episode of the fourth season of The Venture Bros., which may be watched online until November 2nd, although I suspect that furriners might be denied access.

Republicans for Rape.
I'm surprised I'm the first to mention it, mainly because I'm the last to know anything and everything (which someone had to tell me about. Yeesh, guys.)

Sadly, this is mostly a farce; there is no Richard Whitehurst, and a quick googling of him will reveal that. The only thing that does show up is the copypasta sites all reporting the same thing, but no history of this guy. Trying to find his credentials or his previous work reveals dead leads. It goes to show you how easy it is to make stuff up and have people believe it on the internet.Nortaneous wrote:Trolling as art

Left-wing WTFery
Interesting way of looking at it. I just figured that the article itself was art, since it basically accomplished what it said that the nonexistent art that it described was trying to do.Neek wrote:Sadly, this is mostly a farce; there is no Richard Whitehurst, and a quick googling of him will reveal that. Politics must be better everywhere else
I have found a comic that is so hilariously bad and distressing that I feel obliged to share it.
Behold:
If it weren't meant seriously and sincerely, it would be a most fine satire.
Why can't we have a better opposition?
