LCK Book
ooh, yay!
A little belated I know, but I've just noticed this and it looks great, looking forward to its release!
I would definitely be interested in a PDF version, as I would use it as a reference whilst conlanging on my computer mostly anyway.
Looking forward to further titles!

You've caught me at a bad time, so why don't you piss off?
Latest news: I'm confident enough in the content that I finally did the index and filled in actual page numbers in internal refs. Yay.
I tried a few different things with the cover, but they didn't work out that well. I liked bricka's idea but I don't have the time to implement it— a linguistics professor I know wants to publicize the book at a conference and it has to be available by then.

Looks really interesting. I've never actually bought any books relating to linguistics - not counting university textbooks on specific languages - but I am looking forward to making this my first.
I agree on the issue of the cover. It doesn't really appeal to my sense of aesthetics either, and so is not something I would personally have chosen. I would however say that it somehow invokes a sense of mystery and an interest in finding out whatever is inside...

Actually, the firearms laws in his state are rather strict, especially around Chicag-ho.Åge Kruger wrote:Do they have open-carry laws in Zompist's state?
Open-carry exists only in two states.
I may buy it when I get back to the States, where it'll be cheaper.
And, to bricka: MONEY!

in most states. Some states have stricter laws than others (with regards to licensing, restrictions on certain types of places, like restaurants and schools, et c.), but only a handful of states have banned it outright.
You are right about Chicago being strict with regards to guns, though. It's the only city in the U.S. with a total ban on handguns (though perhaps not for long).

Well, two states, Alaska and Vermont, allow an open carry (generally) with few restrictions, while the others require a license or permit. Also, I'm not legally eligible to either open or concealed carry due to age (which is standardized as the age for the purchase of handguns).Matt wrote:Where are you getting this information? And Chicago's the case where the system does make it illegal to own a handgun, but possession for certain purposes, such as transit, is not. However, Illinois in general has a rather convoluted system.
