Salmoneus thinks this is vindictively offensive.

Re: The dream thread
No big deal. I realize that most likely people will pay no attention to or care nothing about the dream I posted, and I will agree it is somewhat bland (definitely as far as my dreams go). It was simply the only dream I remembered when I found this thread. If I have a better dream and remember it, I'll try again.

Re: The dream thread
I dreamt of a hipster-type guy with big thick glasses standing in the middle of St. Mark's Place in Manhattan. He was sipping from a big can that looked like a Four Loko, but I knew it was full of urine. It must have been highly alcoholic urine, because he was getting progressively drunker as he sipped it. It took him all day to get through it, and a crowd of people formed around him, cheering him on. By nighttime, he was done. He threw the can down on the ground, began to sway back and forth, then ran around dizzily in a circle, then vomited all over the sidewalk.
Re: The dream thread
I was undertaking a journey to some sort of quarry/lake/ocean with Disney characters after I visited a magical, rundown apartment (I think), and somewhere along the way Opheliac was playing in a hallway.

Re: The dream thread
I moved into a student accommodation with some of my Jewish friends, which was in a very beautiful park, but it was always rainy and misty. Also, the accommodation was haunted by some kind of ghostly anti-Semitic vampire things, so we had to escape through the park in the rain, lugging all our suitcases behind us. We got saved by a group of partisans, who were hiding out in the park, and as long as we stayed with them, we were safe from the vampires. But then someone decided to go out of the den, and they got eaten. I had to watch them being eaten, and it was horrid.

Last night I had a fantastic dream that I had this really elaborate dish of fried quail eggs served on a slice of fancy bread. On the eggs you would put mustard, some spring greens, and what looked like huge contact lenses made of many layers of egg whites. I think I was served this dish in a Walmart.

That's just exactly the face I made when I woke up.
And eggs are vile.

I wouldn’t want to eat this dish, but I’d be curious to see a picture of it. Maybe someone could post it in the creativity thread?ná'oolkiłí wrote:Last night I had a fantastic dream that I had this really elaborate dish of fried quail eggs served on a slice of fancy bread. I dreamt I was in a cozy Oxford style room supposedly studying Romanian with half a dozen or so other people. I remember noting that u and e were the masculine and plural endings "like how Italian has i for plurals." None of the words were actually Romanian and I don't think the grammar is likely to have been close to the real language either.
Re: The dream thread
Yesterday I had my first lucid dream that wasn't under five seconds. Hard to say how long, and it wasn't that long, but I got to examine the surroundings a little bit and I think I did a flip.

Re: The dream thread
Just because this was funnier than my dreams, here's a mini-dream my fiance told me:
him: You have to stop bringing random animals to our house. Let the chicken go.
me: But it's so cute! It has big eyes - I think it has some kind of medical condition - but it still looks adorable. *holding chicken up with giant eyes*
My dream last night had to do with a think-tank for teens, which somehow I could go to as I was a teen again. But then someone messed up something and the place was going to get blown up... And it was haunted, and I was the only one who saw the "house" sprite running away.

I dreamt I was at a little mosque somewhere, but although it was haram (forbidden) to cut the mosque’s lawn with a lawn-mower, it had been done anyway, though I wanted to know why it couldn’t be done with a cow or a goat. And then there was this creepy weird very fat imam who was trying to convert me.
Re: The dream thread
I was living in what looked like a soviet-era apartment complex, 19th floor, in some distant future. There were guards everywhere that looked like the combine in half-life 2. The use of electronics was highly controlled; computers had expiry dates and if you attempted to use them longer, the authorities would be notified of your location. Cameras and external harddrives were completely forbidden, and the internet was strictly controlled. Somehow I managed to contact Cory Doctorow and he led me to a secret resistance camp disguised as a homeless village made of cardboard boxes, but inside were people wearing lab coats and using illicit electronics. Then a bunch of helicopters found us and killed everyone...

Re: The dream thread
My dreams have been of death as of late. The deaths of those close to me. They haven't been nightmares, since nightmares are scary dreams, and these have been sad dreams instead.
My grandfather died recently. Probably the cause.

Re: The dream thread
I had a strange dream a few nights ago that involved me talking to someone in Latin, except that I confused it with Ancient Greek partially, and used "Cur?", which means "Why?", to mean "What?" (In Greek, one word serves both functions, as far as I know).

I remember hardly being able to sleep at all when my grandmother was dying. The odd thing was, when I did eventually sleep out of exhaustion, that dreaming of it scared me, rather than made me sad. I guess I was frightened because my world was being turned upside-down.
But it was OK in the end, because I knew I'd made her happy.

Re: The dream thread
I had a dream last night were I was playing some sort of guessing game with several other people, and at one point one of the people started speaking in Chinese. Except the dream Chinese sounded more like German with several Chinese sounding syllables thrown in.
Then I was waiting in line to ride a wooden roller coaster in the middle of a forest.
And then destroying a radio that apparently contained one of Voldemort's horcruxes with a shovel.
Or maybe those were 3 separate dreams.

Re: The dream thread
I dreamt that I was trying to buy something that was a combination of cotton candy and a Chinese pork bun from a street vendor. They wouldn't serve me because I was a redhead. This somehow set of an international incident between China and Mexico, and my image was all over the newspapers.
At night, I went to a subway station, where another vendor was selling the candy/bun things. I got one and decided it wasn't very good. I struck up a conversation with some girls sitting at a table - I was like "I'm the guy that started this mess. I don't even like cotton candy, I don't know what I was thinking." But they were really friendly and had thick New York accents.

Re: The dream thread
For some reason Pelé (yes, Pelé) was in my dream last night, although I have no idea why. He wasn't demonstrating his skills, just hanging around with me and my companions in airports and such like.

Re: The dream thread
I was in a car, being driven along that road with all the tunnels that goes across the top of North Wales (A55, maybe?). We got to the tunnel, and the friend who was driving said "Let's try and hold our breath all the way through this tunnel!"
So we held our breath, but the tunnel started getting longer, and it began to slope downwards, and then we ran out of air, but we didn't die. He kept on driving, because you're not allowed to stop in tunnels, and we came out of the tunnel onto some kind of open field. The car vanished, and we were walking through the field, and then it got really sunny and warm. We arrived at a river, and sat down in it to cool off, but then we got swept along with the current over a waterfall.
We both fell over the edge, into the water below, but I was stuck underwater and couldn't move. So I just sat there, mildly annoyed, as I waited for my friend to fish me out. I had a vague feeling that something wasn't quite right, so I thought, until I realized that I was breathing underwater. Then I started drowning, and woke up.

I don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing anymore, but I'm harder than that. I just get to feel bits and pieces of pain when I suffer, so it manifests in dreams and random bad moods... and somatization, of course. I kind of envy that kind of emotional truthfulness, TBH.
Re: The dream thread
I suppose it is good, because (for me, at least) it makes it easier to deal with what's happened, for some weird reason.Torco wrote:I don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing anymore, but I'm harder than that. Maybe you need to do something that'll let you let it all out at once? Obviously, don't try somethig if you think it won't work, or if you're not ready to, or if it's illegal or whatever, but it may help.

Semi-related to this, does anyone else have the thing where they will be in a midway point between sleep and waking, and have brilliant insights and good thoughts about personal situations and stuff? I think this might be common but none of my friends know what I'm talking about.Astraios wrote:I suppose it is good, because (for me, at least) it makes it easier to deal with what's happened, for some weird reason.Torco wrote:I don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing anymore, but I'm harder than that. I've come up with so many conworlding/conlanging ruminents while trying to get to sleep at night.Civil War Bugle wrote:Semi-related to this, does anyone else have the thing where they will be in a midway point between sleep and waking, and have brilliant insights and good thoughts about personal situations and stuff? Then, of course, by the time I've woken up the next morning, I've forgotten them. (It doesn't help that I seldom dream, or at least tend not to remember my dreams, and even when I do I've only lucid-dreamt maybe once or twice, and that only for a few seconds...)

Re: The dream thread
So I conked out on the floor at school today and dreamed about the ZBB. In the dream, everyone decided that the ZBB, as a forum, had reached a pinnacle of perfection and could be improved no further by new posts so everyone stopped posting and admired the forum in its perfected state.
