Some other students of mine were a bit more on the money when they said I look like this guy from a text book. It's scary ... it's totally me in about ten years time (you know, if my eyes change from blue to jet black like coal). It's a bit depressing really.

"Save for" meaning "except for" makes sense to me. Just don't write "safe for", which means something completely different.

Finlay, others have told me the same, the thing is I don't really care about grooming, I loathe shaving, I don't completely stop shavnig because after it grows to a certain extent it becomes annoying. Maybe I should get a trimmer and this would solve my problem, no more shaving and keep a steady stubble.

You seem to have deleted your last photo of you looking glum by a lake – but I seem to remember thinking that level of stubble kinda suited you. I'd have to see the photo again, though, to be sure.
