That wasn't what I was saying in that post, but since you brought it up:
<Drydic> I was not chastising you in the implosives thread
<Drydic> I was imitating Eddy
<Cev> yes but
<Cev> you were right
<Drydic> ok
<Cev> Unlike Eddy
<Cev> I was being stupid
<Drydic> I just wanted that clear
<Cev> hang on
<Drydic> thus the triple formatting
<Cev> that is
<Cev> [you were right unlike eddy]
<Cev> most certainly NOT [you were right] [unlike eddy i was being stupid]
<Drydic> right
<Drydic> I parsed it way #1
<Murrmann> Though #2 feels more natural to me.
<Cev> fu

And what have I told you about quoting stuff with no context? Considering it even comes from IRC, why even bring it on the ZBB at all, it all ends up as a stupid in-joke.

<@Red_Dawn> I do kind of wish I were gay so that I would have less of a choice in whether to move.
<@Red_Dawn> And yes, I know it's rather silly to think that way, but given all the criticism I have gotten for wanting to leave, having something beyond my personal ideals to justify it wouldn't hurt.
<@Red_Dawn> (I would hope that even you two would have enough sense not to expect that someone gay spend their life in an intensely homophobic environment and call them treacherous and weak for it)

I had read and understood your justification for resenting the German dialogue when I read your blog post, and my IRC comment was half-joking. Calm down, buddy.

Also, what? You don't like that people talk about you? Where does that come from? This wasn't exactly people meeting in shadowy back alleys, passing along incriminating rumors about you-- Zontas had linked to your blog, and we were talking about it. I don't see what the issue is.

OH MY GOD HOW COULD YOU BETRAY MY TRUST LIKE TH- err.. I mean, what I mean is: I appreciate your solidarity, but I'm sure this is all just a misunderstanding. Surely Finlay doesn't actually want people to never mention him to each other.

You both are using the word "mention" like that's all you did. The quote, taken as is, appears to be mocking.

Well fuck, clawgrip, do you want me to humble myself by rolling around in filth before crawling before Finlay to beg him for forgiveness?? I already made it clear that I was half-joking-- and it's not like the half of me that wasn't joking was completely unjustified: the movie is not, after all, made for an intended audience of people who can't read the subtitles.

What I am saying is that the quote was mocking finlay and lacked any context (including the half-joking thing). He responded by showing his annoyance. You then appeared to be confused about why he was annoyed: "You don't like that people talk about you? Where does that come from?" I'm telling you why I perceived him to be annoyed. Whether or not you want to beg his forgiveness is your choice.

Take it up with Zontas.
He responded by showing his annoyance. You then appeared to be confused about why he was annoyed: "You don't like that people talk about you? Where does that come from?" I'm telling you why I perceived him to be annoyed. Whether or not you want to beg his forgiveness is your choice.
Bullshit. Finlay never said that he didn't like people mocking him... he said he didn't like people "having conversations about [him]". The phrase "have conversations about" carries absolutely zero negative connotations whatso-fucking-ever. However, as I said in a previous post, I assume good faith on Finlay's part, that he's not actually proscribing all conversations about him, and that this is all a misunderstanding.

Oh, you're right, he did say the conversations thing, didn't he. Sorry, then.
