Arch Enemy are Swedish, not Finnish. Also, it just feels (sounds?) wrong, a woman creating such sounds.

A Map of Swearing in the United States, derived from Twitter. The patterns shown are in some cases slightly surprising, at least as being contrary to stereotypes. The brighter the red, the more profane the people (or at least, the people using Twitter) in an area. The scale used is slightly contrary to my intuitions, but it's an intersting map all the same. Epicenters of relatively courtesy seem to be the upper south, northern New England, northern Iowa and eastern Utah. The coastal south, southern Illinois, southeastern and northwestern Missouri, the Texas-Louisana border, Omaha, San Francisco and southwestern Washington state are epicenters of relatively vulgarity. I'm skeptical of how good a source Twitter is for this since there seems like there could be some selection bias in the 'sample' and its far from the product of statistical rigour, but it's probably about as good as the subject warrants.

Whoops, sorry. With all the bands I hear about, nationalities mix up.

And what's so wrong about Gossow's vocals? They're truly inspiring. Why shouldn't a woman be able to sing in that manner?

I have, much to my delight, discovered that rearranging the lyrics of "My Favorite Things" yields
"Cream-colored schnitzel girls tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things."

I've never managed to appreciate the metal growling vocals. They make my throat hurt by proxy. I have seen a video of a tiny Chinese woman doing them, though. That was funny.

I spent 2 hours browsing Conservapedia. Somebody, please, give me something to restore my sanity.

I'm sorry, there's no known cure for that. Your sanity may return, or not. It's your immune system having to fight it out.

Hairmerica: A Not Too Grimm Fairy Tale.

A crudely animated, but sometimes inadvertantly amusing demonstration of the worst derangement and mania in the American authoritarian right.

Less well-made, but crazier than that flash game from the 2003 Democratic primary election season that featured a masturbating Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man.

I don't suggest watching all of it, it's not worth it.

Salmoneus thinks this is vindictively offensive.

I always liked some metal since when I first heard it but death growl vocals I only really liked for a while a few years back. I'll rarely listen to similar unusual vocals either.

I wasn't saying that. I was poking fun at him by refering to his latest haircut.
