What are you listening to? -- Non-English Edition
Yes, that's Dusche by Farin Urlaub. A nice little song and quite fun when you understand the lyrics. The chorus goes And I'm sleeping in the shower / cos the shower sticks to me / it's the only friend that I've got left in this world / Yeah I'm sleeping in the shower / cos the shower is normal / this rebellion of household articles is quite brutal [fatal]. The song is about a guy who is terrorized by his household items, such as the bicycle kicking back, ties strangling him (presumably), cups that let themselves fall out of cupboards and scissors that hurt him voluntarily, a paranoid fridge, biting bedsheets ...Kuro no Mori wrote:Some weird German song with an even weirder music videos. Friggin' blowing up toasters and showerheads that stab people to death.

I absolutely adore Wir Sind Helden, Soundso is my favorite album...probably my second favorite song on it. And yeah, I'm in the groupDampantingaya wrote:Great song that one. Anyway, usually they've got great lyrics in general for a pop band. I want to get my hands on Von hier an blind as soon as possible (I only have Soundso, but love it). Unfortunately all my music is on my own computer, 200 km away from here. I'm planning to get a laptop, though BTW, you(-PL)'re aware Finlay made a ZBB group on lastfm a lengthish time ago?roninbodhisattva wrote:Wir sind Helden-- The Geek (shall inherit)

No it doesn't, but it gives you the right to add a German song, than a song in another language which isn't English without being your L1.Guitarplayer wrote:Would that enable me to list songs in English here, with a ban on songs in German?!Pekka wrote:and since Finnish is my native language
I may have to strike out Japanese. I almost only listen to that.

I listen to music in the scandinavian languages for the most part. The genres are either pop, rock, or trance at the moment.
Dina- For evig min (Forever mine), Bli hos meg (stay with me), and Savner Deg (I miss you)
Tine- Vil ha deg ( I want you), Du og jeg (You and I)
Veronica Maggio- Dumpa Mig (Dump me), ) Nöjd? (Satisfied?), Havanna Mamma, Måndagsbarn (Monday's child)
Johnny Deluxe featuring Anna Nordell- Drømmer jeg (Do I dream?- Danish and Swedish are used simultaneously in the chorus).
Christian Brøns- Mød dig selv (Meet yourself), Du kan gøre hvad du vil (You can do what you want), Tilbage hvor vi var (featuring Patrik Isaksson and partially in Swedish), Nul garanti (Zero Guarantees), Rock 'n' roll missioner (Rock 'n' roll missions)
Patrik Isaksson- Tilbaks på ruta ett (Back to square one-complete swedish version of Tilbage hvor vi var), Du får göra som du vill ( You get to do as you want- Swedish version of Du kan gøre hvad du vil),
Linda Bengtzing- Hur svårt kan det va' (How hard can it be?)
Alexander Schöld- Den Första Svalan.

Yeah...it's primarily in English, but there is a copious amount of Spanish.

Okay, I've heard back from the UN, and they have announced a moritorium on singing in Danish. I'm sure this is something we can all support.Koko.Dk wrote:Christian Brøns- Mød dig selv (Meet yourself), Du kan gøre hvad du vil (You can do what you want)

As an aside, I thought "Do what you like" would be more idomatic translations.
