(re: the whole "abusing photo editing program" thing) That's essentially what I did It basically started when I wanted to crop one of my pictures and I was looking for how to do that (...you can tell I use the program a lot to edit photos ...I mean, it's Windows Photo Gallery, you're just supposed to look at pictures!), and then noticed "oh hey, wouldn't it be funny if I just adjusted the colors a little bit?" and then kind of exploded all over the pictures. Some of them turned out cool (Summer Palace, and I also like the sunset ones and the Shanghai skyline), some of them not so much (the soldiers, and the hutong one looks strange, I think)dinnae wrote:Chibi:
The summer palace picture looks nice. You enhanced reality there. The others just look like you abused your photo editing program. Experimenting is good of course, but (I believe) it's either supposed to be a photo and look like one (you may push the edges, though), or be a form of digital art, and drop the idea that it was ever a photo. Most of your pictures are lost between the two and thus look silly and over-edited.

Here is a design sketch I've been working on since yesterday morning. It's the Strategic Space Command warship Ninegal - currently called a General Deployment Vehicle (GDV) but I'm considering alternative designations. The total length is around 2100m.
From front (left) to back, the sections are:
This sketch is missing a lot of vital parts, however. I have not allocated room for a primary laser, nor docking for scouts, shuttles, combat drones, or missile buses. A ship like this will need all of those things.
For comparison, see this Logistics Support and Command Vehicle:
I forget how big this is . 600m?

Power Plant 1
Exotic Geometry Motor

CHON storage

It's a fetish, quite honestly. I do owe a lot to Winchell Chung andRick Robinson for writing so much on the topic of realistic spaceflight.Neek wrote:not only designing spaceships, but designing them to look realistic.
Nevertheless, my obsession has always been with assuming the existence of scifinal techs and then extrapolating the design consequences. Which is how I conlang, really. Same methodology.

Inspired by the revelation that Greek and Roman sculptures were actually very colorful, I've attempted to recolor The Discus Thrower in a typical Greek palette. It wasn't very successful, however, as my program won't darken the hair and eyes as the original was too bright. Can anyone actually darken the hair and eyes? If so that would be awesome!

True, I know it's too orange but any true skin color was always too bright. xDpwanlai wrote:Maybe desaturate the skin? He's pretty orange.
Here it is in a truer pigment, but still look how bright the hair is now. Argh, I must find a way to darken it.
Slightly improved design; added the primary laser battery, missile belt, and combat drones mounted to the exterior of the cargo section. Total length is now around 2400m.
Actually, the missile belt probably doesn't have missiles on it; they might be ballistic KKVs or Kirklin mines, which are basically missiles, but don't have a powered terminal stage.
