There are few recent photos of people here. This should change (perhaps).

Here's one of me in front of the Nürnberg castle:

My work has a photographer take portrait shots for our intranet profiles. Might as well share my headshot. Everyone says it looks like it belongs on the dust jacket of a novel with pretentions of depth. Can't really disagree.

So, now, the only thing you need to do is to write the novel. :D

Nah, my sorts of novels would be too genre-y to have the levels of pretentiousness that that picture warrants.

Here's me on one of the last days the forest was still mostly green last year. I usually hate pictures of me smiling and I somehow managed to smirk in a way I like. Anyone who has me on FB knows this pic though.

And now some comments for the rest of you.

Torco, your tired look looks annoyed and sleepy, like I want to cuddle you but I'm also worried about biting ... so maybe I will just slide a coffee across your desk with a broom.

Vampireshark, I'm pretty sure that's just a screen capture from Game of Thrones. Cheater!

Herra Ratatoskr, definitely an author headshot. Are you in academia by any chance?

Cunningham, yeah, bit of a babyface but I don't find 22 hard to believe either. I used to have to check ID at work and, though I would probably card you, seeing that your 22 wouldn't surprise me either. You should try a beard though, just to see if you like it ... and to post here.

Here's a selfie with the Tower Bridge this summer:

One of the only selfies I've ever taken where my head doesn't look like a potato.
I generally forget to say, so if it's relevant and I don't mention it--I'm from Southern Michigan and speak Inland North American English. Yes, I have the Northern Cities Vowel Shift; no, I don't have the cot-caught merger; and it is called pop.

Large photo ... so you can see me from far away of course ... but don't want to make this page any wider.

You should tell your work photographer to choose a slightly larger depth of field next time, or at the very least to focus on your eyes. Right now your glasses, nose, mouth and beard are in focus, but your eyes (arguably the most important part of a portrait) are not.

(I mean, it's a better photo than most of the ones posted here, from a technical perspective, but it's a pretty big issue for a professional photograph)

Don't, please, just don't unless you can actually grow proper facial hair. I have this colleague at work whose age I don't really know but is certainly over 25, he doesn't have a baby face but because of his natural lack of facial hair looks younger than he is, so whatever... recently he's grown something of a beard consisting of what's basically pubic hair like thin 'stache, some chin hair and some along the jaw line and sideburns, it's overall so pathetic and gross I want to scream at him "SHAVE THAT THING OFF", he's a bit of a looker but that thing he's let grow on his face is a fucking abomination.

Hey Imralu,

Noice large photo (and other things) :D

yeah, i seem to get that a lot. i'm percieved as threatening even when im feeling zero aggression for some reason, maybe the beard or the thickness of the eyebrows?

Myself taking my third ever selfie (in some, gosh, 3 years maybe?) when I got my new glasses. I normally don't like seeing/taking pictures of myself.

I'm OK with it, but I don't post them myself because they're always taken by my mum or dad.
