Yeah but, I was just suggesting that if you're gonna do a thread about what sites people need to know about, you better write short descriptions of those sites too, otherwise what's the point of the thread?

Much of the ZBB is deficient in that regard. I blame it on the high quota of aspies. :|

Yep, mainly included for historical purposes. Altho people still use them for band pages.
Guitarplayer wrote:Yahoo – is this still alive?!
Sure is. Apparently YIM is also more common than MSN Messenger.
What's not alive, on the other hand, is Geocities, which I thought about including for history value but decided against. I can't think of any other bigger Net phenomenon that is not still around in some form. Well, Napster, maybe, but that's not a webpage. (And it's around in some form, but a form that doesn't count.)

What exactly is this dark side? I used to visit GameFAQs a lot and can't think of anything you could be referring to. The quality of conversation is much less than here of course, but that's nothing you shouldn't expect when the focus is video games.

Oh, and though it's not a website everyone needs to know about, if you're interested in zoology you should read Tetrapod Zoology.

Have you looked at the social boards? Or poked around some of the older systems?

GameFAQs has extremely strict content policies on its boards. If it appears the least bit illegal, unethical, or not kid-friendly, it gets booted, possibly along with you. I'll spare you the details, but let's just say that it gets tense there sometimes.

I would also like to include TED. For example this, which I just recommended in another thread, a real eye-opener about the state of the world, which should be fairly interesting to conworlders, and for that matter other people who happen to live in the world.

BoingBoing is an awesome blog that's written by smart people about all sorts of things. Generally has great science, technology, art, and news stuff.

I'm still not sure what the use of Reddit is.

Nothing wrong with being atheist, I'm atheist-ish myself (mostly, it's a long story). What IS wrong is being a pretentious misogynistic atheist pseudointellectual fucknugget.

I'm not really sure what i'm looking out here for... is it because all the posts are relaly obnoxious or something? Also I can only tell by clicking on the links what they are.

Mostly 4chan-type troll stuff, anyway....
