Hello, and welcome to the results ceremony of the ZBB Awards 2010. Well done to everybody who voted and of course everybody who was voted for. We'll get to the results themselves shortly. Firstly, some stuff about which awards have not been given out this year. In accordance with Rule 8, no award is given to categories which in total received less than one-third of the votes given to the category with the most votes (i.e. less than five votes in this instance), UNLESS one entry within these categories received at least three votes. Therefore there's no award for the following categories:

- Best Roman/Romanised orthography
- Best morphology
- Best syntax
- Best diachronics
- Best lexicon
- Most promising conlang
- Most experiment conlang
- Best conculture
- Best history
- Most promising conworld

- Best conlanger
- Best conculturer
- Most realistic conlanger
- Most ambitious conworlder
- Most ambitious conscriptor
- Best writer

- Best-looking girl

There's also no award for "Best signature", in which several candidates all received a single vote with no overall winner.

And so, without further ado, here are the categories for which awards have been given:

***

The coveted prize of best conlang goes to Cathbad for High Eolic, easily the most popular candidate with no less than 6 votes.

Best phonology goes to Egein for Siwa, again an easy win with 4 votes.

Without any contest, best conscript is won by Risla Amahendir for the South Eresian script, with a remarkable total of 12 votes.

Best conworld is won by HandsomeRob for Steampulp, with 3 votes.

Most experimental conworld is another unanimous category, won by Nae for Flatworld, with 4 votes.

***

Best conscriptor goes unanimously to Zoris, with 3 votes.

Best conworld art / meta-art is won by vampireshark, with 8 votes and very little competition.

Most ambitious conlanger goes to Neek, with 3 votes.

Best website is won by zompist for zompist.com, with 3 votes (Mecislau's veche.net won 5 votes, but is ineligible having also won last year).

This year's Special Award for Outstanding Services to Conartistry goes fairly easily to Goatface for his ASCA, with 4 votes.

***

Most helpful person goes narrowly to Torco, with 3 votes.

Best newcomer, on the other hand, is an easy win for Astraios, with an impressive 8 votes.

Best topic is also easily won, this time by Skomakar'n for Help your fluency in a nifty way, with 7 votes.

Best topic starter also goes to Skomakar'n, with 3 votes.

Nicest ZBBer is our first tied category, with 2 votes each for Nancy Blackett and Delthayre.

Smartest ZBBer is just won by Pthug, with 3 votes.

Numerous members were voted for under Coolest ZBBer; the award ultimately goes to Kereb with 2 votes.

Most serious ZBBer is won by Salmoneus with 3 votes.

Most eccentric ZBBer is an easy win for Eddy, with 6 votes.

Best-looking guy is narrowly won by Skomakar'n (his third award), with 3 votes.

Best avatar is the second award this year to go to Risla Amahendir, another landslide victory with 12 votes.

Best quote received numerous nominations but was narrowly won by Torco (2 votes) for:
Torco wrote:Breasts are good for more than just grabbing, therefore, their fit to a hand's size isn't enough criterion on which to evaluate them. Motorboating, pillowing, intermammary sex, extensive kneading, twin nipple suction, penis-slapping-the-nipples, are all sexual options that are only, or preferently, available with bigger breasts. Plus I love how they look

of course, I'm not above the feeling of having all of a woman's breast inside my mouth either
***

Finally, an honorary award of Best maps goes to HandsomeRob. Rob is not technically eligible for this award, having won it once before; however, given that he received an incredible 14 votes with extremely little competition, it only seems fair to give it to him again.

***

May I be the first person to say well done to all our winners! Congratulations!

Going to put it on the KQ?

Also, did we skip 2009 or did nobody record the results there?

There was no ZBB Awards in 2009. The one this year was kind of weak too, to be honest, but still imo worth having. I mean if it werent for this I would never have even found the South Eresian thread, since the thread was made when I wasnt posting much and I pretty much ignore people's sigs.

FOR THE LAST FUCKING TIME, YES THERE FUCKING WAS,. HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO SAY THIS???? JESUS FUCKING CHRIST DOES NOBODY REMEMBER THE AWARDS I HOSTED LAST YEAR???

(It was the one with the revised categories list that everybody agreed on after working on it for approximately a month. You know, the revised and improved categories list that curlyjimsam COMPLETELY IGNORED in favor of the previous system which EVERYBODY HAD AGREED was awful? Ring any bells? No?)

Apologies. I dont remember it at all, in fact I thought we had specifically decided not to do it anymore that year. My memory is bad though and it doesnt surprise me that I was wrong. It must have been low-key if there are other people besides me who thought that there were none.

I wanted to vote for Whimemsz's On A Genetic Connection Between Skourene and Wedei. Good to know it wouldn't have made a difference.

(Congrats to the winners!)

Congratulations to all the winner, and near winners!

Thanks guys, but I have to decline the honour of my delicious victory because my current project (it's for a game), which I'm tentatively calling Māinm, cannot really be called an experimental conworld: I mean, it's style is really, really old. As in, they made up worlds like it thousands and thousands of years ago! That's like giving a guy who writes neobaroque fugues the Eurotronic Psychedelia Award for Really Weird Far Out Stuff Man.

HA HA IGNORE THAT I RULE WHOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Congrats to the winners! And the people who has voted, too. How many this year, 24?

If there were less categories I would vote.

You could always vote for some categories but not for others. That's what most people did.

I know, I know, but there are too many categories for my taste. That distracts me. I would simplify things, eliminating or merging categories but, on the other hand, I would create two rounds.

More than anything I am glad that people took this over when I went AWOL a couple of years back. Many thanks for that! (I still remember pulling a 6 hour shift to get it counted and done on Jan 1st back in like 2004 or something
