Generic demonstrations of support.
insert expression of kinship over the shared experience of heartache
assertion of how its not the listener's fault.
hey, they say it's the thought that counts, right?

Are you a guy? Is he gay? Either way, you should be prepared for that you might not be able to be friends anymore if you tell him. Well, it depends on the person. I have a friend I came onto, but he didn't want me. But all is good with him now, because he's very calm and rational. But you never know how people might react, even if you know them well.

Is it just my L2 knowledge of English or does this sound a bit... vulgar?

I've been in situations like that (not really with best friends but with friends for sure) and honestly I just never said anything. After a while, you get another crush, you start seeing each other less, he gets a girlfriend etc. All factors which will naturally reduce the crush. Not to say the situation itself doesn't suck, but it's pretty much unsolveable without taking some risks of ruining the friendship. Why hurt both of you if it is a. your problem which you need to face b. it will solve itself if you keep silent without hurting the other guy?
Should I just move on and be friends?
You can't, because in general, feelings are quite hard to control. The 'just be friends' part is perfectly realistic, but you will probably keep crushing for a while to come. Life's a bitch.

I think what you're thinking of is 'coming on' someone. 'coming onto' just means blatant flirting.
Although I guess the first one is pretty blatant as well.

I keep reliving the moment when I got rejected last over and over in my head. It's not interfering with my life, it's just bloody annoying.
Should I be concerned?

No. Don't get concerned over it (because that'll make it worse). Just realise that's in the whole scheme of things it's probably not important. Do something else to put it into perspective (dunno what exactly, but something).
It was about time I changed this.
