I count 27. Maybe more, since my family took a grand European tour when I was 5, and I'm not sure of a few places we went to. (I'm not sure I remember the trip at all... what with pictures I drew and my Dad's slides and family folklore, anything I remember feels like remembering the memories more than the trip itself.)

The list isn't that exciting, but I'll list the South American ones, which I don't think anyone else has:

Cuzco
Macchu Picchu
Central Lima
Ouro Preto
Rio mountains 'n sea

I think the tango neighborhood in Buenos Aires isn't there, but perhaps should be...

I might be missing some, because I didn't keep track of where I was and stuff when I roadtripped in Europe with my family (once through Netherlands, Belgium and Champagne country, once through the Swiss, Austrian and Italian Alps)

Austria
*??? (see note at beginning)

Belgium
*Historic Centre of Brugge
*??? (see note at beginning)

China
*Imperial Palaces of the Ming and Qing Dynasties in Beijing (not Shenyang)
*Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor
*The Great Wall
*Classical Gardens of Suzhou
*Summer Palace, Beijing
*Temple of Heaven, Beijing
*Imperial Tombs of the Ming and Qing Dynasties
*Mount Wutai

France
*Arles
*Strasbourg

Germany
*Aachen cathedral
*Roman monuments and Cathedral of St. Peter, etc., Trier
*Palaces and Parks of Potsdam and Berlin
*Museumsinsel, Berlin
*Upper Middle Rhine Valley

Italy
*Piazza del Duomo, Pisa
*Venice and its Lagoon
*Historic Centre of Naples
*Costiera Amalfitana

Netherlands
*Defence Line of Amsterdam

South Africa
*Robben Island
*Cape Floral Region Protected Areas

Switzerland
*??? (see note at beginning)

Tanzania
*Stone Town of Zanzibar

United Kingdom
*Historic Town of St. George and Related Fortifications, Bermuda

United States
*Statue of Liberty (I'm assuming we don't have to go up into the statue to count it?)

So I have 26. I'm going on the assumption that nothing I saw in the Alps or that I'm missing from Belgium/Netherlands/Champagne country were on the list.

I get about 27 (I may have overlooked some places in France).

Belgium
  • Flemish Béguinages
    La Grand-Place, Brussels
France
  • Mont-Saint-Michel and its Bay
Prehistoric Sites and Decorated Caves of the Vézère Valley
Place Stanislas, Place de la Carrière and Place d'Alliance in Nancy
    Pont du Gard (Roman Aqueduct)
    Strasbourg – Grande île
Cathedral of Notre-Dame, Former Abbey of Saint-Rémi and Palace of Tau, Reims
    Paris, Banks of the Seine
Historic Centre of Avignon: Papal Palace, Episcopal Ensemble and Avignon Bridge
    Historic Site of Lyons
Routes of Santiago de Compostela in France
    Belfries of Belgium and France

The Loire Valley between Sully-sur-Loire and Chalonnes 9
Le Havre, the City Rebuilt by Auguste Perret
    Fortifications of Vauban
    Nord-Pas de Calais Mining Basin
Germany
  • Palaces and Parks of Potsdam and Berlin
    Museumsinsel (Museum Island), Berlin
    Upper Middle Rhine Valley
Greece
  • Acropolis, Athens
    Archaeological Site of Mystras
Archaeological Sites of Mycenae and Tiryns
Italy
  • Historic Centre of Florence
    Piazza del Duomo, Pisa
    Historic Centre of Siena
The Netherlands
  • Seventeenth-century canal ring area of Amsterdam inside the Singelgracht

Is it me, or is France seriously overrepresented?
I really wonder how Le Havre gets on the list (it's mostly boring-looking concrete buildings. Sure, the architect is a significant name in the field, but should we include Le Corbusier's ugly suburban housing projects too so we can never demolish the eyesores?).

At the very least I'd add Nafplio in Greece and the Dresden Altstadt in Germany.
The city center of Kopenhagen probably also belongs on the list.
