On French grave accents
Are there any words in French besides à and où in which leaving off the grave accent would create a different word? In other words, are there any pairs of words which differ solely by the presence of a grave accent?
Non fidendus est crocodilus quis posteriorem dentem acerbum conquetur.

ça vs çà
congres vs congrès
des vs dès
es vs ès
la vs là
Seems like I should be able to think of some personal names but I can't.

Yes, I was stupid.
I understand, où is the only word which uses ù?

According to what I've read, yes.Basilius wrote:I understand, où is the only word which uses ù?
Re: On French grave accents
And ù gets its very own place on French keyboards thanks to just that one word. It's actually easier to type ù than it is to type a full stop.
