For me, A/C is not necessary at the temperatures we currently have. I'm relatively insensitive to high temperatures, but I freeze easily.

Re: Help your fluency in a nifty way
I think I'd just say "huidige temperaturen" instead of what you wrote, but so would I've done in English. "gevoelloos" kan mean either "without sensation", as in a limb, or "without emotions" when talking about a person. If something doesn't harm you "ongevoelig" is the right term. You can say "het vriest licht", meaning "it's freezing a bit". If you are in the proces of becoming an icicle, "bevriezen" is the right verb. "licht" in the sense of "easily" is old fashioned and limited to some expressions ("licht ontvlambaar"), but otherwise you'd say "gemakkelijk" or "eenvoudig" (though the latter means more "uncomplicated" as opposed to "without much effort").hwhatting wrote:Voor mij is een aircoisniet noodzadelijk bij de temperaturen, die wij nu hebben. Gut.
Right. Now I have to say something in German (or another language, but German is the only language I can write (ans speak) without too much trouble). It's almost weekend, and that makes me happy. On Sunday we have a family party, and I'll be seeing my aunt and my cousins with their children again.

I'm trying to learn a foreign language again, this time Tlingit. In two weeks I'm flying to Juneau to see an immersion program in an elementary school there, as I know a teacher who lives in the city. There's a cool YouTube channel from the University of Alaska in Juneau that has a bunch of videos in Tlingit, but it's hard to stay motivated. I have learned that when one says, "It's good to see you," it translates something like, "because I've seen you, the face in me smiles."

I have no idea, but I believe that "gwáta" means "butter." Tlingit doesn't have labial consonants, so the word's pronounced with /kʷ/.

It's been cold for the past week, even at the end of August. But today was so humid and I was sweating so much. This week it looks like rain, but after that I think it'll get hot again for a bit - a late fakeout summer, perhaps.

To nuane things, the "German" word order is also acceptable in Dutch, just a bit marked ("Zolang als je Hoogduits spreken wilt"). The same goes more or less for auxiliarry and past participle, except that there's really free choice there ("Zolang je Hoogduits hebt gesproken / gesproken hebt").hwhatting wrote:You're right about the German word order, and yes, I remembered that Dutch did something differently here, but mixed up what exactly was different.
