Understanding Language, and How to Use it Effectively

Post by Skittles »

Stumbled onto this site and thought it would be good to share.

http://changingminds.org

It has a lot of interesting articles. I especially like the sections about syntax and Socratic questioning. Very useful if you're not technically inclined.

Also good for if you're writing a book and want a more thorough understanding of how to get your readers to agree with your ideas. And, also, for the constant frustration of making your characters "real" and relatable.

I'm personally iffy about any site that has a book to sell . . . present company excluded of course. Seriously, their bit on punctuation reminded me of that old war horse I'm sure you've all seen:

a woman without her man is nothing
In every U.S. presidential election between 1976 and 2004, the Republican nominee for president or for vice president was either a Dole or a Bush.
