For me, they're always fricatives, and in informal speech the voiced one tends to go the opposite way and get more approximanty.

BTW, for those like Rin who've copied the original question from the OP, you should perhaps note that it's actually restaurateur and not restauranteur. It's not a common enough word for people to know, though.

Chibi wrote: My /θ/ and /ð/ are frequently [tθ] and [dð]. The one time I can think of right now where /θ/ becomes [t̪] is in the word "birthday", which is [bəɹ.t̪eɪ]...in fact, in this case, it might actually be an interdental stop rather than a dental one
I often pronounce word-initial /ð/ as [dð], and I've noticed other British speakers doing the same. I think the only other case where either can become an affricate is after /n/.

How would you people pronounce the following Finnish verbs in your own languages and dialects, not specifically Finnish:

-synnyttäköön
-harhaanjohtakoon
-arkipäiväistäköön

They're all second-person singular imperatives.

IML I'd say them something close to:

[synytɛkʲøʏn]
[(ɦ)ɑrɦaːnʲjohtɑkoun]
[ɑrkʲipɛivɛistɛkøʏn]

The [ɛ]s are partially a concious effort.

You all?

Pretty much like a tourist.

I believe they are - I took them off of Wiktionary

IDK, why?

I would, since I don't know crap about Finnish.

I was just wondering, because the vowel there for me doesn't really sound like a schwa, more like [ɯ].

I think I have a vowel merger there, but the initial consonant is clearly [θ]. This sounds like a reception merger, if you can't hear the [θ]. What do you have for <thin thigh throw>?
[θɪn], [θaɪ], and [θɹɔʊ]. It's only "thank" that has [ð] for me instead of [θ].

how do you all pronounce "always", "day" and "you done with that?"

For me it's:
['oʊwejs], [de:] and [jədʌnwɪðæ]

[ʔɑwɛɪz] or [ʔɔwɛɪz] for always
[dɛɪ] for day
Approximately [jɵɾʌ̃nwɨðæʔ] for "You done with that?" The first vowel can vary a lot.

<always> [ɔɫ.weɪz] -- /ɑ/ tends to get rounded before /l/
<day> [deɪ] -- boring. maybe it can get clipped to [de] in certain contexts?
<you done with that> [juˈdənʷw̃ɪˌðæʔ] -- fairly boring

Hm. This font is broken and puts the ̃ over the wrong character edit: only the edit box font

day: [dɛi] or [dɛj]
you done with that: [jə dɐn wiðaʔ]

Bit unsure about [ɛi] and [ɛj].

I was watching a docu about the gas giants and there was a bit that asked the scientists how do you pronounce Uranus? I was sitting on the settee with my gf and we were laughing like school children at "It's a long way to Uranus" and "We get to see Uranus in a new light" (God, I'm laughing about it even now).

For me it's [j@"r\ejn@s], which is almost exactly the same as "Your anus". There is a difference, but I think it's mostly in tone.

And while we're at it, how about Moscow?

["mQskow] or ["mQsgow]

I have trouble distinguishing between voiced and unaspirated after a consonant like that.
It was about time I changed this.
